I received a rather peculiar call from someone claiming to represent Public Health in London, yet their number was registered in Aberdeen. Naturally, I inquired whether they were referring to Public Health England, which has since been dissolved. The chap assured me they were based on Victoria Street. My curiosity was piqued, so I began to dig deeper, asking him about the COVID vaccines, any issues or adverse effects related to them, and whether there were grievances pertaining to GPs. However, the conversation took a turn when he started probing into private health insurance and life cover - which I do have, although I told him otherwise. He promptly reassured me, saying, "Don't fret, I’m not aiming to sell you anything." Yet, he continued to press me for the name of my insurance provider. At this point, I decided to cut the conversation short and politely hung up. Quite an unusual encounter, to say the least.

I've received three calls from this number. On the first occasion, they inquired about my Covid status, and then shifted to discussing insurance. When I mentioned that I already had coverage sorted, they proceeded to probe into the specifics, asking how much I paid and who my provider was. I made it clear that that was personal information they had no right to ask, and they promptly hung up. They tried again shortly after, and I told them to take my number off their list since I had no interest in their offerings. Today, I've noticed another missed call from them.

I’ve received around ten calls from this bunch, each time from a different number. They claim to be from the “NHS Help Desk” and go straight into asking whether I’ve had all my vaccinations. Whenever I try to get more information about who they represent, they promptly cut the line. I’ve reported them multiple times, but I doubt they’ll face any consequences. It’s rather shameful how they prey on the vulnerable and exploit a lethal virus as a means to peddle their goods or whatever it is they’re up to. No matter how desperate they might be, it’s simply unconscionable to take up such a role and still be able to sleep at night!
