So this scammer called me from a dodgy number I’d never seen before. As soon as he started spouting his nonsense about debts from some overseas place, I just pressed the phone right up against my radio playing loud music. Didn’t take long - he hung up after just over a minute. Totally fake and obvious scam, watch out!

Got a call from a guy with an accent, asking loads about my internet and broadband. I asked where he was ringing from and he said Dublin. Then I asked for his number, but he seemed dodgy and couldn’t give it straight away - like he was trying to find a real number online or summat. Honestly, I just swore at him, called it a scam, and then cut the call.

I received a call today from someone sporting a pronounced Indian accent, claiming to be from Aberdeen and offering me a reduced rate on my landline, supposedly linked to my Virgin account. This isn’t my first encounter with a Virgin-related scam, mind you. Their tactic seems to be pressuring you, almost menacingly, into hopping on your computer to submit your personal information, paving the way for identity theft. They have a rather annoying habit of calling back multiple times. So, my recommendation? Just firmly tell them to bugger off!

I got a call from someone claiming to be Switch to Cheaper Calls, trying to sell me cheaper rates for both mobile and landline calls. The woman on the phone said she couldn’t say exactly where she got my landline number, just that it was linked to when I opened an account and supposedly agreed to share my info. The number looked like it was from the UK, but she mentioned she was actually calling from South Africa. I looked up Switch2CheapCalls online but couldn’t tell if it was the same company. I decided not to continue the chat with her.
