I’d say the safest bet is to ring Halifax directly using the phone number on the back of your bank card. Banks often have loads of different contact numbers precisely to outsmart scammers who fake their numbers. There’s a helpful comment about reporting scam calls and texts a bit further down, dated 02/07. While it might seem like a good idea to expose scammers, they can just as easily try to turn the tables on you.

Got a call just a minute ago, thought it was a scam right away and quickly ended the call. Shortly after, I got a message claiming to be from Halifax. Turns out, someone had made a £995 purchase on my debit card at Ikea.

I encountered a rather dodgy character with a British twang who claimed to represent Lloyds Bank, ringing me up about some dubious transaction linked to IKEA. Apparently, he was from the Fraud Protection Team at Lloyds. Quite the con artist, if you ask me!

Got a call from this number and right away I thought it might be a scam, so I just ended the call. No sooner had I done that, I got a text saying it was from Halifax, my bank, and that I’d been used or something. Seemed fishy to me!

Seems like a scam, they said they were calling from Halifax but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t legit.

Got a text from REVOLUT about a nearly £1000 spend at IKEA. Said call a number if I didn't do it. I tried ringing back, sounded legit but nobody picked up. Checked online and found loads of similar stories. Honestly, best to check these messages properly before you’re fully awake, it threw me off!

Got a dodgy text claiming to be from Revolut saying my debit card got charged £995 for something at IKEA. It asked to reply YES if I did it or ring 01218276080 if I didn’t. Sounds like a proper scam to me, so watch out!

I've received a notification from 'REVOLUT' stating that my debit card was charged £995.00 at IKEA, but I certainly didn't make that transaction. If it wasn't me, I advise you to ring 0121 827 6080. It makes one wonder why BT hasn't taken any steps to disconnect these dubious numbers, doesn't it?

This number keeps ringing up and the person on the line says they’re from the Fraud Team at Lloyds Bank. They try to get you to hand over stuff you shouldn’t share under any circumstances. Then they ask if you’ve got accounts with other banks, and after that, someone else calls pretending to be from that other bank, trying to get even more info. I’ve already had calls from three different people acting like that.

These chaps who claim to be from your bank are actually con artists from the UK. They’ll tell you a payment to Lloyds has gone through and then start fishing for your login info so they can get into your account. They’ll try saying there’s a purchase at Ikea, but that’s just rubbish. Best you avoid ringing them back altogether.

Got a text from 07761 510168 saying it’s from Lloyd's. It claimed my debit card was charged £995.00 at IKEA and told me to reply yes if it was me or ring 01218276080 if not. I don’t even have an account with that bank, so I looked up both numbers and found the landline's linked to scammers. Would be great if the mobile number could be flagged too.

Just got a cheeky text saying, "Lloyds: We've spotted a £995 transaction at IKEA on your debit card." Quite amusing, really, as I don’t even own a Lloyds card! And even if I did, I wouldn't be daft enough to spend that much! Blocked and binned it straight away…

Oh, how amusing! It's rather funny how one could end up shelling out a similar sum at IKEA, isn't it? What a small world! Honestly, it’s nothing short of a scam, if you ask me. Best to get rid of that phone, BT!
