I recently received a rather dubious phone call from someone purporting to be from Virgin Media. They stated that there had been some suspicious transactions associated with my card and wanted to verify whether I recognised a certain payment. To my astonishment, they requested my bank details to supposedly confirm my identity. However, it became glaringly obvious that this was nothing more than a scammer attempting to fish for my financial information. So, do take heed! This wasn't a genuine call from Virgin Media - just some charlatan using a number that shouldn't be trusted!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin, said there was some dodgy stuff going on with my card and that it needed cancelling. I asked for proof and he told me to check the number on the back of the card - he was calling from that. He then started asking for my card details, and I gave a few before thinking something felt off. I hung up and rang Virgin myself, and they confirmed it wasn’t them. I’ve cancelled my card now. Since the number was legit, if you’re unsure, just hang up and call the company directly to be safe.
