Totally a scam. Make sure you report these dodgy calls to the police so they can handle it. There’s a proper system for this, pretty straightforward to use. Got a call saying it was from 02 with a special deal on call plans. They sent a code by text claiming it was from 02, but right at the start it said *security warning* and told me not to share the code with anyone, not even their own advisors. Real call centres in India usually have people who speak proper, clear English, but scammers often have bad accents you wouldn’t find in a legit company. To me, that was the dead giveaway it was a scam, so I just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2 about a new plan deal. They sent me a code by text, which did come from O2, but right at the top it said *security warning* and something about not sharing the code, even with their own advisors. In my experience, real call centres in India usually have well-spoken staff with good English, but scam centres tend to have people with thicker accents and poorer language skills.
