I keep receiving calls every couple of days regarding the funds I've set aside from the car crash. The number appears to be based in Birmingham, but I suspect the calls are coming from India. The numbers in question are 0121 389 0850 and 0852. To make matters worse, the callers are quite impolite!

In the past, however, they’ve called out my name and tried to convince me that I was involved in a car crash that wasn't my fault. On one rather bizarre occasion, I informed them that the individual they were looking for had passed away some years back. Instead of backing off, the caller asked if I was a relative or friend! When I replied no, she further probed into how I came by the phone and my knowledge of the person’s death. Quite peculiar, to say the least!

Just had a right laugh with some bloke ringing me up about a dodgy claim I’d supposedly made online about a crash. Asked where their main office was; they said Birmingham. I said that’s a huge area, then they gave me a London address but with a Birmingham postcode. Just keep in mind, the longer you tie them up, the less chance they have to bother someone who might actually fall for their scams.

They said they were ringing for someone else who had a little accident with me and wanted to sort payment. Claimed to be calling from South Africa but the number showed up as Birmingham. Told them to take me off their list as they kept ringing my mobile. Total rubbish, just spam for sure.

They were rather evasive about their identity and were not keen on revealing how they acquired such information. He then got a bit rude, asking if I knew who I was talking to. I asked to speak to his manager, but he just kept repeating if I didn’t know who he was, trying to sound important. I asked again firmly for a manager, and he said he didn’t have one. I told him I'd find it very doubtful that a firm working with the DVLA wouldn’t have a manager. I ended the call and blocked the number. Sounds like a scam to me.

Just got a call from some bloke saying he was from Motor Investigations about a declaration I made on my last renewal form. I told him I'd sold my car about a year ago, so I don’t have any insurance now and didn’t renew it. Then he said it could’ve been anytime in the past two years! I asked him again where exactly he was calling from and if it was a claims company, and he said no, it was the UK’s Motor Investigation Team looking into false declarations. I asked him which insurer I was with last time to double-check, and he just CUT THE CALL! Proper dodgy if you ask me.
