I received a call from someone purporting to be with the government regarding a reclaim for PPI, insisting I’m due a substantial sum. The chap’s name was James Austin, and he even provided me with a reference number!

I picked up a call from this number, and a chap on the other end, claiming to be a solicitor from the Ministry of Justice, introduced himself as Bill Edwards. He asked if I could have another person living in my house ring him back regarding an “important legal issue.” He provided this number for the return call.

I have a strong suspicion that this phone number is linked to a PPI claim hoax. I received a call earlier today and promptly contacted my PPI provider, who assured me it was indeed a scam.
