I’ve had enough of this annoying bloke speaking with an Indian accent. He even started swearing at me, so I shot back and ended the call. What’s wrong with these idiots, and why don't the authorities step in to stop them?

Got a call on Saturday afternoon (03/08/13 around 12:48) from this number. My son-in-law picked up first but quickly passed the phone to me because the person on the other end threatened to take £200 from my bank if I didn’t answer their survey. When I got on the line, the caller had a strong Indian accent and kept insisting that if I refused the survey, they’d withdraw either £200 or maybe £300 from my account. He said there was nothing I could do to stop it. Then he suddenly started reciting my full name, address, and date of birth! The company was apparently called Lifestyle Research. When I asked his name, he said “Barack Obama” as a joke, I guess. He claimed he was calling from Wolverhampton. Checking the number with 1471 showed it’s been disconnected and might now be routed outside the UK.

It's easy, really! Just have a look on eBay for something like "Pro Telephone Call Blocker" and you can grab one for less than £30 with postage. It stops all those annoying calls, even from numbers that are hidden.

I’ve been getting calls from 01213141408, claiming to be from LifeStyle Research. The guy on the other end has rung our house several times in the past few weeks. He speaks with a strong Indian accent and insists it’s just a quick survey, promising not to bother us again and not trying to sell anything. But when I told him I wasn’t interested, he threatened to keep calling back. Today, when I answered, he started using really rude language. This behaviour is getting worse, and I’m worried about my elderly parents having to deal with his offensive attitude. It feels like he’s doing it for his own twisted fun, but it’s completely unacceptable and something needs to be done.

Some bloke rang looking for someone who didn’t live here. I told him he must have dialled the wrong number. He then went on asking for my name and other info to supposedly fix it in his records. When I didn’t give him anything, he started swearing and I just ended the call.
