So this claims company called me saying I was owed money from my mortgage and that I should send a recorded delivery with £280 to a solicitor they named and gave an address for. They said the cheque would be over £3,000. Been getting calls from them nearly daily since last week. I questioned them about it being a scam and they insisted it wasn’t. Just a warning, be really careful - especially older people might get caught out and lose a lot of money.

I’m with a charity and got a call from this number. There was an Indian woman claiming to be from D-Cloud, asking for an employee who’d just retired. She even mentioned the domain that he had registered, but something felt off instantly, so I just pretended to be interested for a laugh. She asked for a consultancy chat about our domain - yeah, right! I then told her the bloke had moved on and she just ended the call. Bet they’ll ring back, no surprise there.

A bloke with a thick African accent claimed he was calling from Money Savers. He already knew my name and asked who supplied my gas and electricity. When I asked why he wanted that info, he said he could save me money and needed my details. He was pretty pushy about it. I told him it was none of his business and ended the call before blocking the number.

I received a call from a chap named "Gary" who had a distinctly Indian accent. I couldn’t help but chuckle when he gave me his quite English-sounding name while sounding nothing remotely like it. Got quite a few calls from this number, including twice just today. The person on the line had a really strong Indian accent and wanted to talk to someone with my last name but not my first name. He said he'd only say who he was to that person, so no chance there. Honestly, it’s just a bit of a pain more than anything else.

Got a call from some scammer claiming to be from Dcloud, an internet provider. He told me he found my details through DNS domain registration info for a [###] domain I supposedly own. The fact he was ringing me up on a Saturday morning trying to sell me something was a dead giveaway. Honestly, these folks are pretty daft and really not hard to spot.

Got a call from a guy with a really thick Indian accent claiming he was from Windows. Said my computer was hacked and criminals were using it. Creepy thing is, he already knew my name, address and phone number - bit unsettling but I guess that info’s not too hard to get hold of. Appeared to have an Asian accent. He assumed I worked for British Gas but when I said no, he asked who supplied my gas, listing the major companies (I’ve recently switched to a different one!). When I asked what the reason was, he just ended the call. Pretty fishy if you ask me. These scammers usually cut off if you question them too much. Watch out and don’t give out any info. Contact is now blocked.

Got a call yet again from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from some Claims Advisory Service, saying I was owed money from my bank. When I asked which bank, she hesitated and then mentioned something about a government cheque. I told her that if it’s a government cheque, she shouldn’t be needing my DOB or any other info - just send it over. Honestly, I thought Covid would’ve wiped out these dodgy scammers by now, but nope, still going strong. Absolute con artists. Under no circumstances should you share any personal details with them.

I got a call from an Asian woman saying I was owed a refund from my bank for charges from like 20 years ago. To check I was the right person, she asked for my date of birth and which bank I use. I gave her fake info, but she said it matched their records! Then she put me through to her manager who said I could get a big payout, but I’d have to share my bank details. It’s definitely a scam. I told him I’d have to find my banking info and it’d take some time, and now he’s ringing back tomorrow. Scammers like that should be locked up for good.

Building on the previous comment from 04/07/20, I decided to humour the scammer to see what would happen next. They told me a cheque for £3600 was going to be sent to my house by their ‘lawyer’. They said I needed to pay a fee of 7.5%, which somehow meant £200 (yeah, right). This had to be paid using Amazon gift cards. When ‘Susan’ rang again, I faked having done it but got caught out when asked to describe the vouchers. At that point, ‘Susan’ got really aggressive and just slammed the phone down.
