Got a call claiming it was a ‘survey’ from United Utilities. They even mentioned when I called UU earlier this month and had my name, address, and phone number sorted. I don’t usually pick up unknown numbers but answered this time - now I’m convinced it was a scam! I phoned UU afterwards and they said it wasn’t them at all. They advised me to contact 101, so I reported it to the police. Honestly, don’t pick up that number, it’s definitely a SCAM.

Someone called me claiming they were carrying out a survey about water and sewage firms, saying the findings would be sent to Offwat because of all the issues these companies have. I mentioned a leak I’d noticed and reported to Portsmouth Water already. They then asked me a few questions and requested if they could email me some details, which I refused. After that, they wanted to carry on the call - I agreed reluctantly but wasn’t comfortable, so I just hung up.

Got a call from Ofwat about a market survey. They didn’t ask for any personal details. The poll was quick and focused on my recent dealings with Cambridge Water. The person calling already had my name and phone number and knew I’d contacted the water company, even on the right day.

Got calls from this number 6 times in 3 days. Didn’t recognise it so I just ignored it. Decided to look it up and turns out it’s one of those irritating numbers that won’t stop ringing. I’ve blocked it now.

Got a call on my phone from someone saying they were reaching out because I’d recently dealt with my water company. They said they needed to ask some questions and do a survey. I told them I wasn’t interested, ended the call and blocked the number straightaway.

Sounded like some young lass working in a call centre, I overheard her chatting with mates just before she called me. She said she was from Ofwat and asked if I’d do a quick survey, said it’d only take five mins. I just told her no thanks and to not call me again. Now we wait and see what happens next.

Someone called me saying they were from Ofwat too. I just ended the call straight away. Seeing loads of others below saying the same thing might make you think it's legit, but if you keep reading, there’s a comment where the caller warned they’d disconnect the broadband. So yeah, definitely a scam.

I recently reached out to Northumbrian Water about an issue with a clogged drain, and ever since that conversation, this number has given me a ring. It’s rather frustrating to realise that my new number has seemingly been circulated already. 🙄

At first it was completely quiet, then it seemed like a call centre picked up but there wasnt any actual talking at all!

Somebody called saying they were doing a survey about how happy I am with my water supplier. They spoke so fast I had to ask them to slow down so I could catch what they were saying. After they repeated it, I told them I wasn't bothered to share my views on my water co and ended the call. I then went back to pacing up and down the stairs, which was honestly a bit more useful!

Looks like they’re still going strong judging by the comments here. I just got a call from a number that said it was London, and they rattled off some scripted nonsense I couldn’t make heads or tails of. Then they asked for ‘just 5 minutes’ of my time, and I just flat-out said NO and hung up. I’m really puzzled why these lot keep pestering when there’s no obvious way they make money. Feels like some dodgy survey scam trying to trick people into giving up info. Definitely not worth wasting time on. I’ve blocked that number so they won’t get through to me again.

Unknown number. I’m (1) blocking this contact & (2) considering it suspicious! This number (3) rang my new phone number, which only 4 mates know, (4) and it was (5) at 7.45am on a Sunday! Also, (6) if this is connected to me reaching out to a water company? I definitely haven’t done that!! (7) And if it’s supposed to be Thames Water or any other UK water company, why on earth would they call someone over 500 miles away in another country? Seems dodgy to me!

Got a random silent call from this number today around 1.15pm - it’s totally illegal! Since the 25th May 2018, companies arent allowed to keep your info and then ring you up out of nowhere. I never entertain these cold calls. Watch out, this number looks like it’s from some scammers.
