Just like others have said, it was a very polite and posh-sounding lady asking questions for some kind of survey. She seemed genuine enough but was a bit dodgy about how she got our info. I told her to send me an email with more details and to ring back later. Happy I looked it up here first - she’s blocked now. Got a call from an asian guy claiming to be from the education department, saying he wanted to conduct a gov survey about kids’ education around here. He read out some GDPR stuff and mentioned the call would be recorded. When he got my last name wrong, I asked where he got my details from since that’s not right, and I refused to answer more questions. He said it was from a government agency. Even after I said I’m not interested and was about to hang up, he kept trying to convince me to stay on the call. This is probably the third time they’ve called me in a few months.

I told her no-one was free and had no idea when they might be. Then she asked for a contact name to call back. I refused to give any details! Got a rude woman claiming to be from the GOV asking about education stuff. Told her to remove us from her list and she asked what my job was. I replied, why's that any of your business? Then she said only the owner can ask for that. I told her I’m pretty sure I’m entitled to do that myself!

Got a call from an Indian man who was really impolite, saying he was from CITB and wanted to come by two of our sites. He kept badgering me for the site managers’ phone numbers. I told him several times that I could only give an email address, but he just got more and more annoying and rude, insisting on a phone number. Pretty obvious to me it was some kind of spam or survey firm.

Was screening my calls so I just let it go to voicemail, and all they left was some weird heavy breathing noise, no proper message or anything.

I got a call from BRG Market Research wanting a chat about skills and training in our business. I told them straight up that we don’t do surveys or take cold calls. Had to say it a few times and in the end, had to be really firm and tell him to listen when I say “no”. I just hung up, we’ve got no interest in their market research or whatever benefit they claim it has. We’re trying to recover from Covid and have a million other things on our plate. Their calls are a waste of time, no help at all to us. Companies like these really need to be sorted out.

Got a call on my phone. They said it was a job survey "around here" for the UK Government. I asked them which area exactly. They had no idea. Claimed they were from some survey company. I asked if they could text me info. They didn’t know my name or number. Strange!

Got a call from this lady who had a real nasal tone, claiming to be from a survey firm working for the "Government's Education Department." She wanted to quiz the boss about recruitment stuff. I told her nicely that he's not interested in dealing with surveys.

A woman phoned claiming she was doing a survey for the DVSA. After a few questions, it seemed a bit dodgy. They might be a legit market research firm, but I’m not convinced they’re really working for the DVSA. This is the third time they’ve rung, and it’s honestly getting annoying. If you’re told to quit ringing, just do it. Simple as that.

They said they were doing a survey for the DVSA about our lorries, asked to talk to one of our directors who has no involvement with the trucks. I told them to call our head office and they just ended the call.

Really pushy chap asking to talk to the director by name. He wouldn't say what it was about but claimed to be from DVSA. Eventually he said it was some kind of survey, I said no thanks and he mentioned he’d ring again next week.

Some bloke called claiming to be from the Greater Manchester combined authority, saying he was conducting a survey. He never asked for my name so I just fed him a load of rubbish like fake address, age, relationship status, and all sorts of random stuff. If he manages to make any sense of it then fair play to him. Honestly, he should probably get up earlier if he’s trying to pull a fast one on me.
