A woman with an asian accent claimed she was from Domestic and General. I played along and then she transferred me to a supervisor who knew my house name and postcode. They seem to know loads about you to sound legit, but the thick foreign accent and endlessly calling me “mam” (who actually does that here?) gave them away straight away. Told them I wasn’t interested since it was obviously a con and they kept going, saying “No mam, we can send you details to your address, postcode xxxx xxx.” That’s when I told them just knowing my postcode doesn’t mean they’re legit, and only then did they back off!

I answered a call from 0120 680 6340 and said hello around four or five times before a young lady asked if I was Mr Kowalski or something similar. I told her, "No, this is an unlawful telemarketer and I’ll be reporting it." Then I hung up and blocked the number. In my opinion, if it takes someone four to six seconds to respond after you say hello, it’s obvious they’re not really expecting an answer - just an automated system connecting the call. These are clearly well-practised, dodgy scammers who know their cold calls break the law.

I received a few calls from what sounded like a foreign-sounding individual, claiming my appliance insurance had lapsed. They were extending a tempting offer of renewal for a lump sum of £149. Quite suspiciously, I noted that I was contacted three times from various numbers, yet it was evidently the same person relaying almost identical information each time.

Told them all no thanks straight away when they asked for £149 to renew for another year.

However, I was well aware that I had renewed the warranties just a few weeks back. So, I decided to contact Domestic and General directly, only to be informed that these calls were indeed fraudulent. In the span of just one week, I’ve been bombarded with calls from 01206, but they’ve been sneaky, switching up codes to mask their true identity. I’ve noticed they also use numbers like 01823, 01494, and even 01918149766-ringing me six times under that last one! This morning, I was hit with a call from 001553. Honestly, it's all a load of scams, and I’m thoroughly fed up with these relentless calls. Stay vigilant, everyone!
