Someone said they were from Virgin Media but just cut the call and I blocked the number straight away. Turns out they are linked to Sanako Service Ltd, which is registered in the Marshall Islands, nowhere near regulated. They operate a bunch of scam outfits from Iceland and seem to go after folks in Europe, Canada and South Africa. They also run a site called finvestings.com.

Got a call earlier from someone pretending to be Virgin Media saying there were loads of problems with my computer. Thing is, I’m not even a Virgin Media customer. I just kept chatting with them for about half an hour then mentioned I wasn't with Virgin Media and they just cut the call. Total scam.

Today I got a call from someone claiming my computer was hacked. I told the woman straight away that I knew it was a scam, but oddly she didn’t hang up. She kept trying to persuade me, so I played along just to waste her time. After a while, I called her out as a fraud, then some bloke came on the line, but I was already annoyed by then and ended the call.

This is a dodgy operation posing as a car warehouse. They’ll coax you into sharing your banking information or making advance payments (promising a refund that’s about as likely as a unicorn appearing!) and then completely ghost on you. If you happen to receive a call from these clowns, just block the number without a second thought. While I was chatting with one of them, I did a quick search and swiftly realised it was a scam. I thought it might be amusing to keep him on the line for a bit longer, so I strung him along until he called back. Letting it ring out, I blocked him and, lo and behold, shortly after, I got bombarded with four more calls, all from various landlines across the UK! It’s utterly baffling how the authorities aren’t cracking down on this. Keep your personal info, banking details, and hard-earned cash far away from these characters!

I received a rather odd call today, claiming to be from the Car Phone Warehouse. Interestingly, the caller, who had quite an Asian accent, introduced himself as Max, which struck me as rather peculiar. To add to the confusion, he mentioned he was ringing from Wolverhampton, yet the number displayed was from Bolton. Quite the discrepancy, wouldn’t you agree?

Just got another call supposedly from Curry's, but they didn’t bother to use my name, which makes me think it’s a cold call. If this was legit, I’d be tempted to complain properly. I always tell every phone company I deal with - Carphone Warehouse, EE, you name it - that my info must remain private and no sales pitches. If it’s a scam tho, fair enough.
