Got a call from someone called "Harry" from an emergency or insurance or plumbing firm, can’t remember exactly which. I usually end these calls nicely, but he kept pushing and then got a bit rude, saying stuff like "so you’re not interested in saving money then?" Was selling boiler cover. The lady sounded a bit brusque once I said I have a local qualified engineer check my boiler every year and don’t see the point of insuring it. Boilers start showing their age after 10 years. Usually they’ve got maybe a 2 or 3 year warranty, so unless you’re really unlucky, I feel confident relying on my engineer for regular maintenance and any odd repairs, which he doesn’t charge a fortune for. Ultimately, whether to get insurance or not is down to each person’s preference.
