Seems like everyone’s doing this now - random calls about roof and wall insulation from so-called “energy consultants.” If your place is fairly modern, you really don’t need this stuff. They claimed they were calling from Reading, but the caller ID showed a Bournemouth area code. Got a call about some damp issues linked to loft insulation. I was answering the guy’s questions when suddenly he asked about my age bracket. I wondered why on earth he needed that, and he said older folks get bigger discounts. I told him I wasn’t interested in any discounts as I wasn’t planning to pay for anything. I also mentioned I normally don’t entertain cold calls, and asked him to just send me some leaflets since if he knows about the loft insulation, he must have my address. Then he said a survey would only take half an hour but I told him no thanks, I didn’t want any survey. Next thing, he goes that his manager would ring me back in twenty minutes. I flat out told him I don’t want to talk to any manager and wasn’t happy being told what’s going to happen or being pressured into anything. I repeated that I don’t appreciate these cold calls. The bloke hung up on me before I finished speaking. Honestly, just leave it be.

I told him I’m registered with the TPS, so I have no clue how he got through with a cold call. He went quiet but didn’t disconnect, so I ended the call.
