We finally got fed up with all the annoying calls from people using all sorts of fake names, so we bought a pack of three BT4600 Advanced Nuisance Call Blocker Phones for £74.48, including speedy delivery. (Cheaper if you buy just one from the BT Store.) They were dead simple to set up and you can let through calls from numbers you know without any bother, while all the random ones get a firm “no thanks” message! So, to whoever’s pretending to be Patrick, Tom, Chris, Tracy and all the rest - well, you can take a hike! Pretty sure you lot are just lurking around here reading this rubbish to pass time.

I’ve had this chap Chris ring me up three times now, sounds like he’s from England. Keeps going on about loft insulation, but when I tell him I live in a ground floor flat, he just chuckles and hangs up. Weird behaviour really.

Honestly, I couldn’t make out what they were asking, something about ‘which company are you ringing from or are you just cold calling?’ It was clear enough though, I told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call.

Just had a brief chat with Chris, who’s an energy consultant around here. Interestingly, just half an hour ago, I was speaking with Tom, another chap in the same line of work.

I can’t shake off the feeling that this is all a bit dodgy.

I’ve been getting loads of calls from the same automated voice, it’s pretty annoying. Yesterday alone, they left about five messages on our phone trying to sell a "free medical alert". It’s the exact same voice that’s been bugging us for weeks, often ringing up to ten times a day, about getting our loft insulation fixed. The calls always start with 01202 159 but have different last three digits each time. They left a callback number this time too, 0800 487800. Such a pain!

What a farce! It’s nothing more than a ruse to peddle services from an energy firm disguised as a survey. They’re merely fishing for information to better tailor their pitch. Honestly, this sort of thing ought to be outlawed!

Got a call from a hidden number, seemed dodgy so I blocked it and reported to TPS. Definitely a scam.

Got a call pretty much like what others mentioned here, something about energy. I caught a man’s voice but couldn’t pick up properly. He asked me twice to say yes to a question but my throat was really sore so I couldn’t reply. Then he just hung up abruptly. These cold calls should honestly be banned.

Got a call from a guy named Patrick claiming to be an energy advisor, telling me my loft needed insulation. I mentioned I wasn't feeling great and asked if we could chat later, but he just hung up on me! Totally rude, so I’ve blocked the number now.

For two days straight I got a robo-call with the same message after I didn’t pick up their repeated rings. They said I was “chosen to get a no-cost medical alert device worth £200” and to dial 0800 487 800 to get it. I looked up that number and turns out it’s marked as pretty dodgy.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Tracy, a heating consultant for my neighbourhood. She started off by saying she heard I’m the homeowner... I quickly asked her, “Do you know my name then?” and she just hung up straight away. Pretty sure I dodged a pointless chat there.

There's this bloke who keeps ringing us, like multiple calls every day for a few days straight, then disappears for a bit, only to start all over again after a few weeks. We've told him loads of times we're not bothered by any insulation offers, but he just talks right over us and won't stop until we end the call. It's pretty creepy, to be honest. If someone was elderly or more vulnerable, it could be quite frightening. I've put his number on block now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tries from another one soon enough.

They kept trying to get me to book a free loft insulation check. I told them I’m on the TPS list and hung up straight away. They’ve called me three times before this, so I’ve reported them to the Information Commissioner’s Office now.

Absolutely dodgy calls, best just to ignore and block. They'll try ringing from all sorts of different numbers, so don’t be tempted to answer. If you do accidentally pick up, don’t let them have the floor - say you know they’re being monitored by the police and hang up straight away. Bottom line, if a number doesn’t ring any bells, don’t pick up and just block it. Legit businesses will send proper info by mail anyway. I keep it straightforward: only family and mates have my number - if you’re not saved in my contacts, don’t expect me to answer!
