I get these calls all the time. BT's blocking tools don’t really do much since the scammers use fake numbers that change constantly, making it easy for them to dodge any blocks. It’s pretty worrying that if BT, the police, Trading Standards, and others can’t do much about these scams, what hope do we have for important stuff like our electricity, gas, water, banks, hospitals and the like? Feels like our essential services could be at real risk if criminals can’t be stopped here.

I got called a couple times this week by a polite young bloke claiming my loft insulation was out of date according to some EPC records. He said it should be replaced with new stuff. Each time he used a different number. When I told him he was obviously a scammer, he just hung up straight away.

Whenever I pick up a call from numbers starting with 01202 137###, 01202 143###, or 01202 159###, nobody ever says anything. It's really annoying because I keep getting loads of them. Every time a new one rings me, I just put it straight on block.

i've gotten a few calls recently, one came from 01202143040 and then twice from 01202143039. the two that ended in xx039 just went straight to my voicemail and then cut off right away. the initial call from xx040 had this weird buzzing sound like it was about to connect me to somewhere else, probably a premium rate line or something dodgy. never heard a single person speak on any of the calls. it's clearly some kinda scam.

Some bloke named 'John' keeps ringing me, like more than five times in just a couple days. Each time, the number changes slightly - I’ve seen 033, 041, 035, 040 pop up. He's pushing something about windows and doors. Last time I picked up, I told him straight away to remove my number from their list, said it again and again, and then he just hung up on me. That’s quite unsettling, especially for older folks, feels a bit like harassment to me. I’ve now blocked all those numbers using 1572 so hopefully it stops.

27th October 2021 Some bloke called himself Chris claiming to be an Energy Rep for my area and asked if I was the person in charge of the house. I asked what he wanted, but then he just cut the call off straight away. Looks like it's probably those same dodgy people who’ve been ringing me off and on about loft insulation for years, always switching phone numbers every time I block the last one.
