Tom phoned me claiming there was an issue with the cladding and insulation in my loft, something about it being listed on the “national insulation register” and needing an upgrade. Sounds like a total scam to me. This number has called me twice on my home phone. Every time I asked how he even knew what was in my loft, he just hung up straight away. Really dodgy behaviour.

My elderly mum got a call from some bloke who never even told her his name. Instead, he just started going on about some insulation job she supposedly had done recently - which she definitely hadn’t. When I asked him what that was all about, he finally admitted he was with some company that does insulation and was just doing some kind of survey around the neighbourhood. He did say the company name started with “Eco”, but I can’t quite recall the full name. It all felt off, so I just ended the call straight away.

I’ve ended up blocking loads of numbers starting with these digits, but they just switch to a slightly different one each time. If you spot calls showing this kind of caller ID, best not to pick up. Just block them straight away, unless it’s a mate you know with a similar number.

If they found any issues, they’d supposedly provide a spray foam fix backed by government grants. They wanted my last name, but I didn’t give it. Then they asked my age bracket, like 50-85 or over 85. The guy said his name was Tom but wouldn’t share his surname. He said his manager would call back in about 15 minutes to set up the survey time. When I asked where they got my info, he mentioned something called the ‘Renewable Energy Database’ - never heard of it. I told them I’d look into their company before agreeing to anything. It didn’t sound right, and he was dodgy when I asked for ID. Now I’m waiting for that second call, but I reckon I scared them off.

Today when I picked up, a guy claiming to be from The Green Loft Insulation Company said my house is listed as having old loft insulation. I wanted to know what he meant by “old loft insulation,” but as soon as I asked, he just hung up straight away! Really dodgy.
