I had a call from someone claiming to be from an Installation Advisory group, asking if I was the home owner. They started with "How's your day going?" but when I said I was quite tied up getting ready for a meeting, they seemed confused and asked me to repeat myself. It felt like they might have been using some kind of voice recognition tech. As soon as I inquired where they got my phone number from, they just cut the call.

Loads of calls coming from this number but everytime I pick up it’s dead silent, like no one’s actually there. Feels like a scam to me.

He was calling about selling insulation, so I mentioned ours had been installed just a couple of years ago. Then he started saying folks nearby had issues with damp in their lofts, even if their insulation was fairly recent. I asked what postcode he meant by 'nearby,' and then he just hung up. I kinda enjoy pulling these calls out to drag their call times - my longest was about half an hour once. Gotta find ways to keep busy during lockdown, you know?

He promised his manager would call me back in about an hour to explain everything, but when I asked for that manager’s name, he just went quiet. So I ended the call.
