Got a weird voicemail from someone; they were talking about smashing someone's head in and sticking them in a freezer, going full-on Sutcliffe mode on this blonde person. The whole message was pretty nasty stuff, and I’m pretty sure they had no idea it was being recorded. Really creepy and unpleasant.

The phone literally just buzzed for a sec and then cut off, no chance to talk at all. Sounds like one of those automated calls, probably a scam. I just blocked the number straight away.

Got a call about some new loft insulation from Canada. They went on for a solid 4 minutes straight, trying to book me in for a loft inspection - said there was just one slot left for tomorrow! It all felt a bit dodgy, so I told them to just send me an email with the info since I wasn’t about to agree to anything over the phone. The moment I said that, they hung up immediately!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Council, going on about me living in a conservation area. They even went as far as describing the front of my house and the colour of my front door! Then they started chatting about cavity wall and loft insulation, saying stuff about damp issues and trying to sell a free survey. Honestly, steer well clear of them! Total scam.

Got a call from a guy named Sam Green saying he was from some national booking centre in Bournemouth about fitting a loft. Bit odd cos I'm in Suffolk. He was trying to set up a time to check out the loft and promised a quote, saying they'd get a local firm to do an eco-friendly install if I liked the price. Sounded quite insistent though, so I said no thanks. This was the second call too, and I think the number was the same one that rang me last week.

It's funny how loads of folks mention getting calls from this number about loft insulation or cavity walls! Today, I got a call myself. The chap was quite polite and well-mannered, saying he wanted to pop round to test the air quality at our place and maybe fit an air purifier afterwards. He was talking about the WHO and Covid-19 quite a bit. When I asked him where he found my number, he mentioned some kind of register. Before I think about reporting them, I’m definitely going to look into this register to see if it’s legit!

Messing about with insulation can really annoy you, so it’s usually best to just leave it be. Both types are pretty good at keeping the heat in and don’t really need swapping out just to improve efficiency. If anything, adding more insulation might help instead. Don’t let anyone make you think your loft or wall insulation is dodgy, dangerous, or not up to scratch - if that were true, it would’ve blown up in the news by now as a huge scandal.

They start by checking if you’re an older person, probably thinking you might be easier to fool. Then they go on about how your loft insulation is rubbish, claiming it only works at 2%. If you’ve got rockwool, they say it’s banned and a nasty irritant that must be taken out by law. And if it’s fibreglass, apparently it’s just as illegal because they say it causes lung cancer like asbestos. But honestly, neither rockwool or fibreglass are against the law, and there’s no rule forcing you to get rid of them.

Someone rang my mum and knew her name, but said her name was Holly. This person also mentioned my mum's address and said it was about her house. When my mum asked who had sent them, they just ended the call.

Got a phone call from someone offering to sort out loft insulation. I told him I wasn’t interested and definitely didn’t want any random person coming into my home. He wasn’t rude, but kept saying things like “having glass fibre insulation is against the law, you’re actually breaking rules and could end up in jail!” Then he just hung up on me. Honestly, don’t get drawn into talking with these lot. They probably already know your name and other info, so just hang up and be cautious.
