Got a call from OWL, pretty much the same as everyone else is saying. They rang me up claiming there might be a problem with my loft and cavity wall insulation. They even set up a visit for tomorrow! After seeing all the warnings here, I've decided to cancel it. Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences on this site!

Got a call from some energy firm called Home Energy Solutions or something. They said their system showed I’ve got fibre insulation in my home. I told them to take my info off their records and warned them I’d be reporting to the TPS and making a data subject access request to see how they actually got my details since they knew me by name. Problem is, I can't find anything about them online, so no clue who they really are.

Like others have said, it’s the old loft insulation scam. They try to reel you in by starting with an easy question that you'll say yes to, which is meant to get you on their side. Classic sales trick using NLP or whatever. Once you nod along, they think they’ve got you hooked and you’re likely to fall for it. Just say NO THANKS and hang up straight away. You might hear some angry swearing from the other end as they realise they’ve lost you. Honestly, this scammer’s just a parasite, preying on the kindest and most vulnerable folks. Not worth wasting another second on them.

The guy who called me sounded quite polite at first, but after he had a word with his boss, the chat got tense with him raising his voice and getting quite annoyed. Definitely not how I’d want to handle any kind of business.

Got a call earlier, they already had our name and phone number and claimed our loft insulation was old and needed updating! Our place is over a century old, with the original loft intact, so of course the insulation’s old. They mentioned tearing down walls to fix it since there’s no proper access! Got a call from someone asking for a different name but somehow had my address? Then they started talking about a cavity wall insulation issue and said they'd be in my postcode within a couple of days to inspect the property. I told them we don’t have any issues, but they insisted they had some special gear. When I asked for the company details, they said it was Spectrum Energy and gave me 0800 0430833. Feels like a classic sales scam to me.

Got a call from Spectrum about cavity wall problems they reckon are from bad installation. Booked a slot for tomorrow, then a rep rings up saying my partner needs to be there too for some "GDPR compliance" reason. I wasn’t having it and called them out since I’m well clued up on GDPR and it smells like a dodgy trick to get both of us so they can pressure us into quick decisions. Stay clear of these lot and make sure you say you’re a tenant.

01202026185 I've been getting calls from Spectrum Energy almost daily for weeks now. They first contacted me about damp problems after having cavity wall insulation fitted. They just won't take no for an answer, using a 'free survey' as a way to send a salesman round. I blocked their old mobile number but they just called from a different one and now the automated calls are non-stop. My neighbour's even moaned about the noise from my phone. I've had to turn off the ring tone just to stop the disturbance.

The person on the phone actually had my full name and address even though I'm on the ex-directory list. They asked about when my house was insulated and whether it was through a government scheme. I wasn’t sure since it was done before I moved in. Then the caller said they’d ring back when my husband was around, which felt a bit condescending! I told them not to bother and ended the call. Got a cold call from them, told em the double glazing team said there was no issue, which wasnt totally true, the insulation lot actually fixed it and fired the installer, he’s been dodgy before. Got a call from Spectrum Energy about a free check-up for my cavity wall insulation. They said some installers might’ve used wrong materials or didn’t fit it right, and certain insulations are soaking up moisture from the outside wall, which makes it damp and fall to the bottom of the cavity. They’re supposed to ring me back in about 20 minutes to tell me who the surveyor will be, so security looks alright. Since it’s free, I went ahead and booked the call. So far, everything seems fine. If anything’s dodgy, I’ll update here.
