Got a call from a number that seemed to be based in Clitheroe. I don't know anyone from there, so I just let it ring out to voicemail. Nothing was left though, which makes me think it was probably some kind of spam or scam call, or just someone I'd rather not deal with.

Got a call from 012006000018 around 12.34pm this afternoon, Thursday 4th August 2022. We were outside in the garden and didn’t pick up. Turns out it’s some annoying nuisance ring from Clitheroe, and since no one actually lives there, I’m quite pleased we ignored it!

There were 3 posts made here on 16/06 and a few pages earlier explaining precisely how to block these scams. But the scammers just have a laugh and keep on calling and texting, knowing most of us in the UK won’t bother to take action and that the government isn’t going to step in. So, the poor and uninformed keep getting ripped off, while the rest of us just turn a blind eye and don’t really care.

Just noticed I missed a call from this number and had to look it up here. Honestly, the comments below ring true and it’s pretty worrying. I’ve found blocking doesn’t do much, actually the more I try blocking, the more random calls and messages I get from all kinds of different numbers. My landline’s been a nightmare for ages, no way to block the scammers, so they keep ringing back even when I thought I blocked them. I’m thinking it’s time to report this lot to the police, and might even have to raise it with my MP.

Some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft said I had to turn on my PC so he could check my error reports. Told the guy, who had an Indian accent, that I work for Microsoft too. He got rude and called me a liar, so I fired back. Five minutes later, his boss rings me asking why I upset Michael - well, I upset him too! Total scam.

Total scam.. some call centre in India ringin’ O2 customers tryin’ to sell upgrades with outdated info. Don’t pick up and block the number straight away. If you do answer, they’ll note your number as active and keep botherin’ you, acting like another phone provider, hoping someone will eventually get trapped by their trick. Watch out folks and be careful!

Had a call on my landline at about 9.15 this morning from an unknown number, only picked up as only family usually ring this number. No idea how they got it, probably Sky selling data again. Got a call from someone saying they were with a phone company and had a deal on iPhones. When I asked how they got my number, they said they had a file with numbers from different providers. Told them to take me off their list and then they just cut the call.

All my jabs and boosters are fully recorded on my doctor’s system. Only your surgery will contact you about official covid vaccine appointments, so ignore calls from numbers you don’t recognise.
