2 yearsThis number is definitely sketchy, felt like a scam or something dodgy going on. Wouldn't recommend answering it.2 yearsGot a call but they just dropped it straight away. I've put myself on the phone preference list, yet these calls keep on coming. Really annoying!RangTelephone Preference Service2 yearsThey called me but ended up just hanging up straight away.5 yearsFirst off, I want to make it clear that while I anticipated receiving this call, it did nothing to diminish the fact that it was an utter scam. Here’s how it unfolded. Yesterday, I got a call from the Timeshare Support Centre regarding a timeshare I’d owned ages ago, claiming it had been sold unlawfully. They offered me the chance to speak with a 'paralegal' over Zoom today, but then they suddenly switched the title to 'consultant'. They assured me I’d receive a call and an email with the Zoom link to join posthaste. In the meantime, I did a bit of digging and found the Timeshare Support Centre was rather dodgy itself. Then today, I received a call from AEGIS (0118 409 1021), who were sifting through some details to ascertain if a solicitor would take on my case, boasting that they only win 100% guaranteed! (Red flags, anyone? No one can promise that!) So, I posed the golden question: “Will I have to fork out any cash upfront?” The chap waffled for a moment, before saying ‘solicitors charge a pretty penny, so don’t take them on unless you’ve got a solid case,’ then casually mentioned “some cases operate on a no win, no fee basis; just hold on for the full explanation on our Zoom call in a few minutes.” I made it clear I wouldn’t pay anything upfront, yet he was keen for me to hear his spiel over Zoom, promising I’d only need 15 minutes. I thought, why not? Let’s see how this plays out. Ten minutes later, my phone buzzed again. I reminded him I was awaiting the Zoom link. He promptly dismissed that notion, insisting it would be simpler over the phone!!! Clearly, he’d been instructed in that brief interlude to avoid presenting himself via Zoom. Why change gears now if they were all above board? He started prying for details about the timeshare and asked if I had a letter of relinquishment; when I replied no-asserting that if it had been sent, it was long gone-his tone shifted. “Ah, if that’s the case, you still own it, and there could be fees spiralling!” I chuckled to myself as I recognised his attempt to wriggle out of responsibility. I informed him that I couldn’t possibly still own it, as my credit rating is pristine! Intriguingly, the timeline for claims had stretched from yesterday's 10 years all the way back to 1986. He rambled on about how legitimate cases like mine should yield a staggering £15,000 compensation for being sold unlawfully, and taking into account my payments, we could be looking at around £25,000 in total... BUT of course, without the proper documents in hand, a solicitor would need to do the legwork, which meant coughing up money upfront. He even tried to scrutinise my income to see if I qualified for legal aid, and when it appeared I didn’t, he pressed me on whether I truly wanted to chase this case or if I was genuinely okay with letting it slip by. He knew precisely what my response would be... but the moment the tricksters realised I wasn’t completely gullible, they dodged the Zoom identification, leaving me without a picture of the con artist. Still, it was rather entertaining to lead him on for a spell!Timeshare Support CentreAEGIS5 yearsAbsolutely, I couldn’t agree more! It seems like just another con designed to manipulate timeshare owners into shelling out large sums for what they claim is mis-selling compensation. Truly a scandal of epic proportions!5 yearsI’ve been contacted by a firm named AEGIS Direct SL, and they're attempting to persuade me to fork out £6500.AEGIS Direct SL5 yearsSolicitors who specialise in timeshare disputes.Submit Your Own Report (0118 409 1021)
