If this number shows up on your phone as a missed call, don’t bother calling back - it’s definitely a scam. They try to get you to hand over personal stuff like your national insurance or bank info. They pretend to be from Bristol County Court, but they’re actually faking it, using numbers from different courts around the UK. Loads of people have been ringing them back, either to check what it’s about or because they ended up giving their details and then suddenly the call got cut. Please, don’t share any info with them!

I got a recorded message saying something about a case number and my NI number, telling me to press 1 to talk to a case worker. When I did, some man who sounded Indian picked up, but I could hardly catch what he was saying. He asked me some stuff I had no clue about, and then just cut me off. In the background, I could hear another guy, also sounding Indian, asking questions to someone else.

Beware of these HMRC impersonation scams! It’s crucial never to disclose your personal information over the phone. Remember, HMRC will never reach out to you via a phone call! What you might hear is an automated message claiming that your National Insurance number has been misused and urging you to press 1 to get in touch with an advisor, or face arrest within the hour. Whatever you do, resist the temptation to press that button! The person claiming to be an advisor is, in fact, a fraudster trying to extract your sensitive information. They'll start by asking for your name, address, and date of birth, then they’ll go after your credit and debit card or banking details. Please, don’t fall victim to these scammers! Protect yourself by not giving them any information and block their number immediately. If possible, report this to GOV.UK or HMRC. Stay vigilant!

today this number called my home phone at about 1:34pm. i didn’t know who it was, and when my answerphone picked up, they just hung up straight away. honestly, folks, having an answerphone is a great idea - most scammers won’t bother talking to a machine unless they’re hiding their number. it’s simple to find out where calls come from, and if someone is legit, they’ll usually leave their name, number, and the reason for calling!

Had a rather dodgy call the other day, purportedly from HMRC, threatening to suspend my national insurance number. The number was spoofed and seemed to come from the Bristol County Court, but I'm fairly certain it's not linked to any standard departments, only the Listings office. I could be mistaken but it felt off. Definitely these individuals are the epitome of scammers, engaging in some sinister fraudulent activities. Be very wary of such calls!

What a dreadful scam that was! I had the misfortune of listening to a woman ramble on for a bit, expecting some kind of clever reveal. But when she said, "First, I'll need your name and details," I thought, hang on a sec! If this were above board, you'd already have my details. I expressed my disappointment, telling her it was quite clear she was in the thick of a rotten scam. And just like that-she cut the line!

What a right cheek! Some scallywag had the gall to threaten me with court action, claiming they were ringing from HMRC and that I had tax dues. I asked him to specify the year in question, and lo and behold, it was for 2020 - the very same time when I, like many others, was on furlough. I made it clear that it’s HMRC’s job to sort out what I owe, so how is that my problem? I'd had no official correspondence whatsoever; let them try to take me to court if they fancy it. I told him I’d ring HMRC myself to get the bottom of this nonsense, and would you believe it, the blighter hung up! The nerve of these con artists! I sincerely hope no one gets taken in by such foolishness.
