Got a call where some robotic voice claimed to be from a legal department, but didn’t say which one. It said my name was tied to some legal problem, without giving any details, then asked me to press 1 to speak to them. Definitely a scam.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying I hadn't paid some tax and if I didn't pay right away, they'd pursue legal action. Then they asked me for my bank details, but I told them that HMRC wouldn't go about asking for stuff like that over the phone and that they normally send letters instead.

BEWARE OF THIS SCAM. Got called by someone claiming to be from Support Through Court (Bristol) on the caller ID. The person spoke with a foreign accent, said they were from BT Openreach and that my account had been hacked because I supposedly "downloaded viruses." Problem is, I don’t even have BT, nor do I have wifi at all. I decided to mess around a bit. Asked them to say my name, but they dodged it and demanded “verification” from me, bombarding me with questions about what devices I use and how I pay bills. I just gave silly, inconsistent answers to throw them off. They got pretty annoyed when I started laughing. Then they passed me on to another person who tried to intimidate me. I kept replying with nonsense and again asked for my name. All I got was the initials of an email that weren’t even close to mine. They then started yelling that I'd been hacked. I just told them their scam was pathetic, said goodbye, and blocked the number. Total waste of time.

I work at a charity called Support Through Court (you can find them at www.supportthroughcourt.org), and I just wanted to say this number has been used in call spoofing scams recently. That means people are pretending to be us by using our number. Just so you know, we only call you if you’ve reached out to us first, and we never ask for your bank details. It seems that this phone number is being used for deceitful purposes, with someone disguising their identity behind it. Regrettably, it is indeed a genuine number belonging to the Bristol branch of Support Through Court (https://www.supportthroughcourt.org/locations/bristol/), where I’m employed. This charitable organisation provides vital assistance to individuals navigating the court system without legal representation. Just a quick heads-up: we will only reach out to you if you’ve previously contacted us for support, and we will never request sensitive information like your bank details.
