I’ll give it a go by using a name beginning with the same first letter, then see who they say they're after.

A voice on the line asked for someone, but the name was pretty hard to catch. I told them they had rung the wrong number. Then they wanted to know who they were speaking to. I asked them again who they were after. Suddenly, they snapped back, accusing me of being rude. I just said, well, you did ask for a different person, so... They cut me off sharply, saying they didn’t want anything and hung up. Sounds like they were in a right mood. Hope their day gets better, but if they're up to no good, maybe this frustration will push them to do something better with their time.
