So I got a call like this just yesterday. I'm a bit deaf, so I kept asking this foreign lady to speak louder. Then she got annoyed and handed the phone to a man, who sounded fed up and said my name was being used to send porn. I'm quite old and my neighbour was around, so he grabbed the phone and hung up. The phone rang again almost immediately, so we unplugged it for a few hours. Pretty clear they were trying to hack my computer or something.

This was definitely a scam. I've already filed a complaint through the phishing section on Action Fraud's website. I'm also planning to drop an email to my MP, questioning why there’s not more being done by the government to stop these crooks from pulling off their dodgy schemes. Proper frustrating!

Someone called saying they were from Microsoft and gave me this long code, something like 888dca60-fe0a-11cf-810F, as "proof". Turns out this code is on pretty much every Windows device, so obviously it’s a scam. Like we didn’t already see through that!
