Got 5 voicemails on my landline (which isn’t listed anywhere) on Monday 11th Dec, all saying HMRC were about to take legal action. Total scam, because HMRC never handle stuff like that - plus I always sort my taxes through my business address, not at home anyway. I called back just to check, and the person who answered said they were from HMRC. Told him he was a proper con artist. Reported everything to both HMRC and ICO. Honestly, no idea why these bodies don’t shut down these scams faster - they’d scare the life out of less savvy folks.

I received a staggering five voicemail messages from this number all in one day! I’m not listed, so I was quite taken aback. It’s clear it's a scam, but I can only imagine how distressing this could be for some folks. Isn't it about time that BT and Ofcom set up a dedicated team to swiftly shut down these nuisance lines and penalise those responsible? It feels like they should be taking more action to protect us!
