Got 5 voicemails on my landline (which isn’t listed anywhere) on Monday 11th Dec, all saying HMRC were about to take legal action. Total scam, because HMRC never handle stuff like that - plus I always sort my taxes through my business address, not at home anyway. I called back just to check, and the person who answered said they were from HMRC. Told him he was a proper con artist. Reported everything to both HMRC and ICO. Honestly, no idea why these bodies don’t shut down these scams faster - they’d scare the life out of less savvy folks.

Got called a few times about an "HMRC action launch" thing. Sounds a bit like that Indian IRS scam that's been going around. Three calls within just a couple of hours, really annoying.

This number left me with five missed voicemails all in the space of a few hours. I’m on the ex-directory list so I knew straight away it was shady, but it must be really upsetting for others who don’t realise. It’s mad that BT or Ofcom don’t have a quick way to shut these numbers down and slap fines on whoever’s running these scams.

I already told the Information Commissioner’s Office about this, and you can do it online as well. They’re able to fine these businesses, so if these calls come through to you too, definitely report it.

He pointed out that HMRC would invariably reach out via formally stamped letters! This number rang me like 3 times just yesterday! My lad, he's an accountant, reckons we shouldn't even bother. He says if it was really HMRC, they'd send proper letters on official paper, stuff you can show a lawyer or your accountant for advice. You can't sort anything legit out over the phone like that!

I ended the call straight away once I knew it was a scam, but it still shook me up a bit. So, this number called me earlier and it ended up going straight to my voicemail. Just got a call from these lot saying I was in big trouble for not paying my tax. They asked if I wanted to sort it out straight away or face court. I said I'd rather go to court, then they just hung up on me. I'm seriously poorly with a terminal illness, so this has really upset me and made me anxious. Got a call at 1:35pm on Monday 20th November from a number claiming to be HM Revenue & Customs. The recorded message said they’re trying to reach me because of some court case and asked me to ring the number on the screen.
