Why do people even bother with silent calls? Seems like a total waste of time to me. You pick up the phone and all you get is complete silence on the other end. No message, no explanation, just dead air. It’s pretty annoying and makes you wonder what they’re trying to achieve. If someone wants to talk, why not just say something instead of ringing and staying quiet? Don’t get it at all.

I received a call from an unfamiliar number, 01157351030, so I decided to pick it up. The bloke on the other end introduced himself as "Simon" and started chitchatting about loft insulation, which, to be honest, was done yonks ago by the former owner of the house. He mentioned it might lead to damp problems and offered to arrange a complimentary inspection for today. Quite oddly, he pried into whether I usually discuss home improvements with family and even wanted to know my age! Then, he quizzed me about whether I preferred the morning or afternoon. When I replied that I wasn’t quite sure, he said his manager would ring me back in a quarter of an hour before abruptly hanging up. Quite the peculiar call, I must say!

Got a call from some bloke named Simon who said he was from the government about insulation. What a load of rubbish. Honestly, Simon's just a muppet who clearly never paid any attention at school and now has to scrabble about trying to trick folks for a living. Proper tosser.
