Got a call from a woman with a South Asian accent who said she was from a call centre. Like some other folks have mentioned, she told me my D&G warranty on a washing machine was about to run out. Got a call at 1.50pm from a lady with an Asian accent asking for my wife. I asked who it was. She said something like Rhada from Domestic and General. She said my washing machine warranty was up. My machine is less than a year old and has a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty. That was enough for me!!! Then came that shrill high pitched noise which I just mimicked back down the phone till she hung up. I’ve tried this before and it usually works. Of course, when I tried calling the number back, it was NOT IN SERVICE.

Really dodgy, sounded proper convincing. The only giveaway was it was from a call centre and the woman didn’t have an English accent. At precisely 09:04, I received a call from a rather articulate chap who seemed to be quite familiar with my identity. He insisted on discussing my washing machine, which I found rather odd. When I asked him which one, he mentioned a Hotpoint. I quickly informed him that I don't own such a model. He promptly thanked me and ended the call. It was clear to me that this was nothing more than a scam. I wasted no time in blocking the number using BT's 1572 service and promptly filed the call away in my junk mail.

This morning at exactly 09.04, I got a call from a polite man who clearly knew my name. He mentioned wanting to discuss my Washing Machine. When I asked which one, he said my Hotpoint. If we all stop answering strange numbers, they’re the ones losing out. Also, loads of calls coming from private numbers - why hide your phone number unless it’s dodgy? Received a call purporting to be from Domestic and General regarding my washing machine - but something felt off about it. Definitely think this was a scam!

Ignored the call at first, but when I picked up the second time, all I heard was someone saying "Goodbye!".

Didn’t know the number, let it ring to voicemail but they cut off. After reading some of the comments, I’ve now blocked this caller.

They rang my home phone but didn’t leave a voicemail, so it must not have been anything urgent. I don’t know the number, so I’m guessing it was either some annoying telemarketer or another scam attempt. I can’t block the number on my home phone, but luckily I managed to block it on my mobile.

Got a call from 01156920009, someone claiming to be from Domestic and General. They told me my washing machine warranty needed renewing and said the premium had dropped, so they needed my bank sort code and account number to sort a new direct debit. I've had my appliances insured with them for more than 20 years and never once got a call about renewals like this. Definitely a scam!

Got a call this morning around 9:30 about a washing machine warranty, pretty much the same as one I had yesterday but from another number. Yesterday they said my machine was a Hotpoint, today they claimed it’s a Bosch - neither is right!

Got a call from 01156 920009 and when I answered, a woman asked if I was Mr Hudson. I said no and she just hung up shortly after. Felt a bit odd so I looked up the number. Seems like some kind of scam, though not sure what they were after.

Got three calls from 01156920009 in less than ten minutes, but I have call blocking so I didn’t answer. Out of curiosity, I tried ringing back cause I was a bit bored and fancied a chat about the level 3 restrictions in Nottingham, and how that might affect their work. Also wondered if Boris should be held more accountable for the situation we're in. But whenever I try to call back, it says the number can’t be reached. Pretty odd!

Had a call from this number yesterday, but when I picked up, it was just silence on the other end. It’s becoming quite the nuisance as I've encountered this a few times recently. Really frustrating!

I wanted to discuss life insurance, but when I mentioned I was at my job, the bloke suggested I should come up with a more believable excuse. I assured him I was genuinely at work, and he had the audacity to call me a liar! I found his rudeness quite off-putting, so I told him as much before hanging up and promptly blocking his number. What a laugh!

At 8:26 this morning I got a call which I figured would be silent, but the person actually knew my name. She said she was Selina from some company (I didn't quite catch the name) and mentioned something about my washing machine warranty. When I asked which washing machine she meant, since I’ve owned quite a few, she said it was a Hotpoint. I told her their info was way out of date and asked her to remove my details from their system.

About 15 mins ago, this number called me but when I picked up, nobody said anything. I could hear what sounded like people talking in a call centre in the backgrnd though. Then suddenly the call got disconnected by them.

Got a call from 01156920009, some dodgy seller claiming to be Rachel about a washing machine warranty from D&G. Told her straight I’ve never had anything to do with D&G for warranties, so obviously a scam. I’ve blocked the number now.

Someone rang saying they were from Aviva about my life insurance. I said okay but sounded a bit confused, and then they just ended the call.

Not sure really, I use BT Callminder so none of those calls actually went through. Bit of a nightmare though cos I live with someone who needs constant care, and we get calls all the time from doctors and other medical places. So it’s hard to tell if it’s someone genuine or just a dodgy caller until we look it up properly.
