So, my mum got a voicemail from some bloke claiming to be from HMRC, but she didn't even answer the call. Honestly, if you get something like that, just don't bother calling back - it’s definitely a scam.

Some bloke rang up saying he was from HMRC, telling my missus she supposedly had over four grand in tax fraud debt. She even gave him her NIN, but when he demanded she pay some of it right then over the phone, she said no. After that, he started pestering her with threats about jail and all that. What a tosser. A recorded call came through with a very robotic American voice claiming to be from HM Customs & Revenue. The bloke said his name was Officer Dennis Grey and rattled off some long reference number. He warned that if I didn't ring back or have my legal rep contact them, I'd be facing legal trouble. Being retired at 70 and not paying any tax anymore, it just feels like a total scam to me.
