About a fortnight back I got a voicemail from this number, then just now I picked up when they rang again. It was some automated voice, sounded American, saying it was HMRC and warning me about legal trouble if I or some 'appointed lawyer' don't get in touch with them. I've blocked the number straight away!

Got a call from them earlier but didn’t pick up. Later, they left a pretty nasty and unprofessional voicemail claiming to be from HMRC and threatening me with legal trouble. Like others here, I’ve blocked the number and have no intention of returning the call to these scammers.

Someone phoned my mum who’s quite old, and she got really worried about it. I told her that with the odd accent and how daft the message sounded, it’s gotta be a scam. Watch out because these scammers don’t just hang up - if you try to call HMRC back, they keep the line open so you think you’re chatting to the real HMRC, then try to trick you into giving away your details or cash. Why aren’t the police cracking down on this sort of thing?
