A caller pretending to be from EDF Energy rang me, asking for some details about a bill. When I tried to find out what the issue really was, he couldn’t even chat properly in English. Definitely a scammer!

Received a peculiar call today, purportedly from E.On Next. They dialled a line that has no connection to our accounts whatsoever. When I raised my concerns about the authenticity of the call, she abruptly ended the conversation, remarking, "What sort of scam could be pulled with this number?" After that, she added, "Don’t bother ringing us if you happen to get an erroneous invoice," before hanging up. Quite the dodgy interaction, to say the least!

When I asked him for a reference number and what the call was about, he got really annoyed and said I was wasting his time. I told him I just needed to ask a few things before putting him through, then he just slammed the phone down on me. Proper rude! Be careful and don’t hand over any of your info to them!

I had an odd experience with a lady who seemed rather persistent. She called me five times, claiming to be from Scottish Power and introducing herself as "Jenny Williams." However, her accent sounded distinctly Indian, which raised my suspicions. I got a call claiming to be from SSE about my energy account. They seemed to know quite a bit - company name, address, and even the account holder’s details. After feeling unsure, I ended the call. Then, not long after, a comparison website rang me up. I’m a bit confused about what the scam was really trying to do - maybe trying to switch my gas supplier without me realising?

Just like a lot of others have said, this bloke said he was from some energy provider called Pozitive. Honestly, his accent was so thick I struggled to catch what he was saying, and he kept going over the same thing cos he couldn't get what I was saying back, proper frustrating! Turned out to be a right con. He was waffling on about some issue with billing and wanted me to check their last invoice. I told him straight up we'd never got any invoice from them, which is genuine, but he just wouldn’t accept it!

Got three calls from an Indian man on 01143605280 who said there was a mistake with my energy bill linked to my number. He seemed to know the supplier’s name but everything else he gave me sounded off. Told him to send an email, but he just hung up. On the second call, I said I’d look into it and call back later, then the line dropped again. Third time, I mentioned I’d reach out to the supplier’s complaints team, and yet again, the call was cut. It’s really irritating! I reckon this kinda tactic could easily fool an older or vulnerable person into handing over personal info.

Eventually, she let slip she wasn’t actually with British Gas but some other firm, though she wouldn’t say which one. The caller, who had an Indian accent, gave her name as Alisa Sierra. Quite dodgy if you ask me.
