I just picked up, said hi, and then they hung up right away.

Looks like a total scam. They phoned up our office saying there was a wrong Direct Debit going out, but the weird thing is they already had our login email and even attempted to reset the password using a code. When one of our accounts team answered, the person on the other end got quite rude and pushy.

Got a call from these people earlier, they kept pushing for my MPN number, saying there was some mistake with my bill linked to a postcode nearby. Sounded dodgy to me, definitely a scam.

Dealt with a scammer - I ended up chatting with her for quite a while and actually got an apology out of her 🥳. Be careful and don’t hand over any info because she said they record your details and once your contract finishes, they pitch the same prices again. I’m not quite sure how it works exactly, but I reckon they trick you into paying for electricity without you really having a proper supplier. The bit that really made me think they’re dodgy was when she said sorry for scamming me and then admitted there wasn’t any other job going. Stay safe, folks!

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent on 01143 602526. He claimed to be from E-On and wanted to speak to the accounts team. Didn’t sound right to me, so I ended the call pretty quick. Definitely some sort of spam.

Got a phone call from 01143 602 526 earlier today. A guy with an Asian accent said he was from British Gas and wanted a recent meter reading, saying there was a jump in usage and that they want to avoid any big increase in my direct debit. Luckily, having spent over two decades in the electricity and gas biz, I knew straight away this was dodgy. Seriously, don’t hand over any details, even if they sound super convincing. Just tell them you’ll ring back or check your online account yourself, then hang up. Be careful out there!

It’s actually quite scary how much they seem to know about people’s bills. Usually, I’m pretty sharp at spotting when someone’s trying to pull a fast one, but these lot have done their homework and dig deep for info. Honestly, you should block and report them - they’re not to be trusted at all.

Seriously, don’t EVER hand over your info to these people! They’re total scammers, just really slick about it. My energy provider would never ring me like that. I messed up and shared some details, and now they just keep hassling me nonstop. Make sure you let your energy firm know someone’s pretending to be them.

Got a call the other day from someone saying they were with British Gas Lite, and honestly, it was proper convincing. They rattled off loads about my bill, which freaked me out and I ended up giving them some more details. They said it was a mix-up with another customer nearby and were checking my account info. Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, saying there was an issue with our meter and asking for details from the bill. I said I couldn't check the bill right now and that I'd ring British Gas myself. They just ended the call straight away... not shocked by that at all.

It's a total scam. They keep calling over and over, asking for our supplier number. I don’t trust it one bit! They’re really pushy and won’t give up, ringing back non stop. Unfortunately, we can’t block them because we have a switchboard setup. Proper annoying!

I told them I wasn’t convinced they were legit and asked them to email me the details instead. I figured if they were genuine, they’d have the proper email to send the info. After that, she just ended the call on me.

This bloke claimed to be from British Gas, which we already use, saying there was a problem with our meter. While he was rambling (hard to catch what he was on about, if you know what I mean...), I typed his number in and, as expected, it flagged up as a scam. I told him I knew and was hanging up. The cheeky git rang me back two more times saying, "madam, you’re mistaken, we need to..." but I didn’t let him finish either time. I’ve blocked the number now.

I got a call from someone saying they were with EON, but when I asked them for the security password, they just didn’t get it and kept insisting they were from the EON team. It was pretty clear to me they were dodgy, so I just ended the call. I’ve also passed the number on to EON so they know about it.

I got a call from an Indian lady, she kept saying there was some confusion with the bill and a different address. To avoid being charged too much, she asked for the meter number from my bill along with when my contract finishes. Foolishly I ended up sharing those details as well as the address. Now I’m pretty sure when my contract’s up they’ll bother me to sign up with some other provider or something like that.

Got a call from someone claiming to be "EDF" even though we're not their customers. They wanted us to say a code that apparently was sent in an email, supposedly to check something about our meter. The code actually said we never asked for it and not to share it with anyone. This is the second time in four days they've rang. No idea what they wanted the code for, but it definitely seemed sketchy. These dodgy calls are really getting out of hand.

When I told them I’d just call my energy provider myself, they wouldn’t listen and kept insisting we were customers of British Gas. As soon as I called them out and said I knew it was a scam because I’m not with them, the bloke just hung up. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

They said they couldn’t send emails to any other address and that you can't ring them back either. I double-checked with British Gas directly and they told me this number isn’t linked to them at all, so best just to hang up and not answer if they call again.

I asked for the account number and the name on the bill because he didn’t sound right. When I pressed for details, he admitted there’d be a charge for a new meter. He even had a little laugh about it! Definitely felt like a scam to me. Just be careful and always check the security info properly - a real supplier will always confirm that stuff.
