Got a call from a woman with an American accent pretending to be from the tax office. She warned that I'd face legal action if I didn't answer. Total scam, obviously.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from hmrc saying i needed to ring back asap or face legal trouble. Tried calling them back a couple of times but when i asked a few questions, they just ended the call. Definitely looks like a scam to me.

Just got a call from some bloke named James Thomas who sounded proper official and even gave an employee ID and case number. He told my client they'd face fraud charges if they dared to hang up. I went ahead and checked this with HMRC myself, and they confirmed it’s a total scam since they’d have any legal steps on record. HMRC told me to report it straight away to Action Fraud on 03001232040, which is exactly what I'm about to do next.
