I honestly couldn’t make out a single word from the caller. The noise in the background was absolutely deafening. I ended the call myself and decided to block the number.

I received a call from an Indian woman claiming to be from O2, saying I could enjoy a whopping 40% off my bill. The moment I picked up, I suspected it was a scam, but decided to humour her. When I mentioned I was paying £10 a month, she immediately dropped the amount to £7, then jumbled it to £9. I pointed out that this didn’t quite add up to 40%, yet she just kept rambling on, completely ignoring my query. She then sent me a text with a bunch of codes asking me to read them back for "verification". I inquired why she needed those codes but not my name or address, and once again, she disregarded my question, insisting on the codes. The text message I’d received beforehand specifically warned against sharing such information over the phone! When she wanted me to read out some random code, I decided to make one up, which seemed to fluster her. I eventually told her to pipe down before she abruptly hung up. By the way, I’ve never even been an O2 customer!
