Someone just rang claiming to be from the Solar Centre, but as soon as I told them I wasn’t the property owner, they hung up. Funny thing is, the voice sounded just like this other guy called Chris, who said he was a local energy advisor - though he phoned from another number recently.

Got a missed call earlier and had a quick look at the number - yep, just another scam trying its luck, thankfully my BT phone with advanced blocking grabbed it straight away. It has this clever feature where callers have to say who they are unless they’re already in my contacts or a trusted list. If they don’t, no ring for me. Pretty sure other phones have similar setups. Wish more folks used this, maybe then these annoying scammers would find it a bit tougher!

My mum’s been getting calls from this number about gas insurance and they just won’t give up. I rang them myself and they claimed to be some kind of marketing company, but I’m not convinced at all. The same lady keeps ringing her and she sounds like she’s getting more pushy each time. Just a couple of posts below this, I’ve laid out exactly how to deal with these scams. Imagine if all the thousands of folks in the UK who get hit by these dodgy calls and texts actually followed through - there’d be real pressure on the police and government to put a stop to this nonsense. Don’t expect someone else to do it for you; it doesn’t take much time at all. I’ve bookmarked the ‘action fraud’ site and even dropped an email to my MP, got a bit of a cheeky reply back too. But it’s pointless if only I’m doing something about it.
