Got a call earlier from a lady called “Amy” who had a strong northern accent, asking about life insurance. Started off quite polite but turned really rude when I didn’t go along with it. I ended up giving her a bit of my mind, and then she called back straight away swearing at me - never had that happen before. Normally I mess about with these calls for ages, but today wasn’t for that. The first call showed as Glasgow, but the one after was from Sheffield.

Got a call about life insurance. First it was a bloke with a foreign accent, then he passed me on to a woman with a strong northern accent. Both were quite charming and polite. I played along for about 15 mins, feeding them made-up details about myself. When the woman said she had to put me on hold, I ended the call. Definitely a scam, but watch out as the woman was super convincing and courteous - could trick older folk quite easily.

Totally a scam. First got a call from 01707 830772, somewhere in Welwyn Garden, but the call just dropped out. Then they phoned back from a Sheffield number. That was my red flag. I told them to stop calling me and blocked both numbers straight away. Definitely a dodgy life insurance scam.

Got a call from this number around early evening, pretty fishy really, especially since just before that another number from Manchester (01618507895) rang me, asking about life insurance and offering a free consultation. They obviously had my name and mobile. I made up an excuse to end the call and honestly, I’d tell anyone else to do exactly that. Feels like a total scam to me...

Got called twice one after the other from two different numbers just a few mins apart. Told them both exactly what I thought and said if they had a review to do, they should send it in writing. Also told them to remove me from their list straight away.

Already put one of these lot on block - first it was an 0333 number, then they rang me again from some Sheffield code. Saying they were from Policy Protect and knew all about my life insurance. I spoke to an agent who mentioned that their company was linked to Policy Protect, followed by some other jargon regarding a life insurance assessment. I've since called back twice just to see how much of their time I could fritter away, repeatedly grilling them on how they managed to obtain my details and what I could do to get them erased from their system. These folks seem like nothing more than trained automatons, merely ticking boxes from an outdated list. All they had on me was a name, a phone number, and an old address. It appears they categorise you as ‘interested’, ‘not interested’, or ‘no response’. Allegedly, if you fall into the ‘not interested’ bracket for a certain period, your information will be scrubbed, but I have my doubts about whether they adhere to GDPR regulations. When I raised my concerns, they just cut the call for the third time! I might just ring them again for the sheer enjoyment of wasting a bit more of their time.

Got a call on my mobile yesterday from a woman claiming she was from some place sounding like Peer Life Insurance. Have a look at the comments below this. If you come across any scam calls or messages, it’s important to report them straight away to the cyber crime police - they have a system to make it straightforward for everyone to report any fraud attempts, whether by phone, text or email. I only found out about this after raising the issue of constant scam calls with my MP. The instructions on how to report are shared somewhere on this thread. Scammers definitely hope no one finds out about this. If you don’t take the time to report them, don’t expect them to be caught or stopped anytime soon.

The caller said their name was "Alex" or "James" from "Windows and Doors Ltd". Funny enough, the one time I didn’t pick up and just hung up quick, there was an attempted break-in at my place! Earlier that week, someone acting dodgy was spotted checking out my house and others down the road. I reckon they’re ringing to work out who’s home and targeting those who don’t pick up, or maybe elderly folks. I’ve handed this number over to the Police.

Got a call from 01142991809, this person sounded like they were from abroad but wouldn't say why they were ringing. They kept asking me personal stuff. I refused to answer and then they just ended the call.

Someone named Alex rang me earlier, looked like they were trying to sell something. Since my number’s already on the TPS list, I just ended the call straight away, didn’t bother chatting with them.

Constant annoying calls from what sounds like a dodgy medical scam. Really frustrating and obvious trap.
