some bloke called Jimmy rang me, sounded Indian and said he was from SSE, wanted to check our account details. i didn’t share anything with him, but he mentioned he’d ring back again later on.

Got a call saying it was E.ON, asking me to double-check my meter number because they said the postcode was wrong. Felt dodgy to me - definitely a scam.

They called saying they had to talk to someone in accounts about an electricity bill. When I mentioned the person wasn’t going to be back at work for a couple of days, they got really pushy and started insisting on a phone number to ring them at home. I ended up just hanging up.

Got loads of calls from someone claiming to be from 'Eon', pretty pushy and impolite. After I ended the call with a bloke asking about our electricity, another woman phoned just a couple seconds later asking about the gas account. They seemed to have quite a bit of our details already, which felt dodgy, so I’ve informed the actual Eon company about it.

In the past two weeks, I've had roughly seven calls from these lot. They say they're with British Gas and mention some unclear problem with my meter. Every time, they ask me to find a bill to "explain" things. Feels like a complete scam to me!

TOTAL SCAM, phone rang and he gave a postcode that was all wrong. I’m used to handling these kinds of calls so I asked him to send everything in writing. Then, he just went and hung up on me straight away.

They called claiming to be from 'Yu Energy' and sounded pretty convincing at first. Then out of nowhere, they started asking for my gas meter reading, saying I had one installed! I’d already handed over my MPAN number by then. Total scam, absolutely dodgy!

Been getting calls from someone claiming to be with Yarmex Electricity. They never give their name and keep asking to talk to whoever handles the bills here. Feels really dodgy to me, like a total scam.

So this bloke, who used to be called Jordan Smith but now goes by Adam Scott, reckons we're being billed for the wrong meter. When I asked him for the meter number he was referring to, he rattled off 11 different numbers, none of which matched mine. Still no closer to sorting it out. Told him there couldn’t be 11 meters around as the place is pretty isolated. Proper waste of time and he was quite rude too. Also, still waiting on that £3000 bill he threatened me with a couple of weeks back. He left a number to ring him back on - 01995 600152.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas about some issue with my bill. I told them straight up I wasn’t falling for any scam and ended the call. Then I blocked the number.

Somebody claiming to be from Opus Energy called me, saying they were from the metering team but couldn't provide my password. I got in touch with Opus Energy afterwards, and they said nobody from their side had phoned me. The caller kept at it and even tried ringing from a new number. I wouldn’t share any personal info with them. I’ve ended the call at least five times now, and they left messages on my answerphone. While I was writing this, another call came through from an entirely different number, 01655304547. When I told them they were being dishonest, they just hung up!

Total con artists! When he called, I said I have solar panels (which I don’t) and that I actually sell my power back to Eon, so he owes me £150. He sounded annoyed after that and just ended the call.

I got a call from a guy sounding Asian, called Scott or something, asking for my meter number. He said they’d messed up the postcode and charged us wrong. I told him I couldn’t give that info and that the person who handles it doesn’t work at the office at the moment. I asked for his number so they could get back to him. Then he got quite rude, saying I should just check the bill or log in online. It’s a business account, I’ve no access to any of that stuff, and it’s not my responsibility. Honestly, I’m pretty sure this isn’t legit at all!

Got a call from EON Billing asking for stuff from a paper bill like Contract Dates and Meter Readings. I didn’t give them any of that, only told them our Company’s name and address. After a while, they just ended the call. The person sounded like they had an Asian accent.

Somebody called saying they were from British Gas checking meter readings, acted like they had loads of details about our recent bill but kept asking stuff British Gas would already have, asked for an email or letter instead and they got a bit rude. One thing that gave it away was the super English name they used, but the voice had a strong Asian accent.

The guy on the phone had quite a rude tone and kept pushing for answers. It didn’t feel right, so I contacted British Gas myself, and they told me they’d never ask for that kind of info over the phone. Seems dodgy to me, probably a scam.

Lucy kept ringing me repeatedly, and then another person called me a couple of times too. I got a bit wary and stopped sharing any details with them. They said they’d cancel my contract if I didn’t co-operate. I contacted British Gaslight who advised me to keep my info private. Today, Lucy phoned three more times despite me telling her I wasn’t interested and asked her to stop calling. I hung up, but she rang right back. I’m left wondering if they could switch your energy provider without you realising, as long as they have enough info.

I got a call from someone saying they were British Gas, but their accent was really hard to follow. They kept pushing me about my bill and it seemed like a total scam. It’s clear these dodgy callers are just trying to fool folks, especially older people who might not be so careful. BT really should step up and stop these annoying scammers from pestering everyone.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying there was a problem with our business electricity bill because the postcode was wrong, causing the meter reading to be off. He asked me to read out the logo at the top of the bill, but when I said he should already know if he’s really from the company, he said it was just to verify. I asked him to email me the details instead, but he kept saying the call would only take a couple of minutes, and doing it over email would take longer. I told him that was fine and then ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam!

Got a call from someone pretending to be with Octopus Energy, saying there was a problem with meter readings around our area. They already had our full name, address, and even the supply numbers for both our house and farm meters, so it seemed pretty legit at first. Then they asked about the amount on a past bill for one of the meters, and as soon as I told them, they just ended the call. Definitely a dodgy call, but I’m still not quite sure what they were after. I checked with Octopus Energy and they confirmed it wasn’t them.

Had a call from someone with an accent, sounded Asian. They claimed there was an error with our latest meter reading and that the energy company's computer had gone down. They wanted to verify our details over the phone. I told them straight up I thought it was a scam, and that the energy firm would never ring a business number like ours. These calls seem to be cropping up all the time. Wish there was a way to get rid of them for good.

Got this bizarre call from a lady with a heavy accent who said she was ringing from my area, on an 0113 number. She claimed to be with British Gas, Eon, or nPower and that my meter readings were all mixed up. Kept hassling me to check my recent bills. She just wouldn’t stop no matter what I said! Absolutely ridiculous! Made me laugh though.

Beware of scammers! Someone rung me up pretending to be from EON on behalf of BT Energy, saying their engineer had got the meter reading wrong. They then asked if I could provide the reading from my most recent bill to fix the error on my account. Ridiculous! When I asked for a number to ring back, they gave me a local number, but as soon as I asked, they just binned the call. Proper dodgy behaviour.

Got a call from someone with a thick Asian accent who said he was calling from Nottingham, yet the number was based in Leeds. He was talking about an error with my gas bill, but I didn’t hand over any info since he kept switching the company name. At first, it was British Gas, then suddenly he said it was E.ON. Got a call at my work from someone speaking with an Indian accent, saying they were from British Gas, my gas and electric provider. They said they worked in the meter readings department, supposedly in Nottingham, but I could hear loads of honking and city noise that sounded like somewhere in India. They claimed there was a technical issue with billing and asked for my contract end date and meter reference numbers. Checked with British Gas later and they confirmed it was definitely a scam.
