Someone rang me claiming to be from the UK Postcode Lottery, telling me my address had won a prize. They even had my old address and maiden name, which made me suspicious straight away. They asked for my email so they could send a link for a discount card supposedly good for Tesco and some restaurants. On top of that, they said I’d won a free travel ticket anywhere in Europe! When I wouldn’t give my bank info, they suddenly turned quite aggressive. Apparently, I couldn't get the discount card unless I set up a direct debit, which felt like a total scam.

Got a weird call from a Leeds number, so I picked up since I used to have a job in that area. The caller said her name was Janet and surprisingly knew my name already. She started asking about the make and age of my washing machine, then wanted to confirm if my postcode was still the same, even quoting an address I used a decade ago. I ended the conversation nicely as it felt odd. I'm not convinced this was any sort of banking scam, as I’m employed in that sector myself. Not sure what they hoped to do with the info though.

He claimed that I had been chosen for a discount card allowing me to enjoy 40-50% savings at popular retailers such as Asda, Tesco, M&S, and Sainsbury's. However, I quickly recognised it as a scam and made my feelings clear. Despite my protests, he adamantly insisted it was legitimate. I informed him that I would be reporting his number to the authorities, to which he retorted, “Good luck with that!” and cheerily wished me a nice day before abruptly ending the call.
