Got a call from someone saying they're from Windows, name kept changing - first said he was Alfred, then Calvin when I asked again. Was all about some reports saying my PC was in danger, asking loads of questions really pushy. I ended up just keeping him talking as long as I could to stop him bothering someone else with his scams! Proper irritating experience.

Got a call from some guy who said his name was Alfred from Windows, telling me my computer was in danger or something. He kept pushing me with loads of questions. When I asked him his name again, he suddenly said it was Calvin. I reminded him he just said Alfred but he didn’t like that one bit. I try to waste as much of their time as I can so they can't keep ripping other people off!

Hello there, Initially, I got an email from Microsoft claiming they noticed something odd regarding a recent sign-in from Moscow, Russia. A few days later, I then received a call on my landline from 0113 819 8129, which is registered in Leeds. They claimed to represent some sort of nuisance department at Microsoft and insisted on having a chat with me. When I mentioned I was rather busy, the caller assured me it would only take two minutes. I replied, questioning whether two minutes could truly resolve the issue. I recognised it as a scam and wisely decided against indulging them further.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, claiming my computer was sending out harmful messages or something. I just told them to sod off and before I knew it, I was stuck in a heated argument with her and some bloke who sounded like he was overseas. They threatened to shut my computer down so it won't work anymore - no clue how they think that'll happen but good luck with that! These lot ring me up about four times every day, starting bright and early at 7.30 am. Already had two calls today and it's not even 9 yet. Really wish there was a way to block them.

Someone rang me up saying they were from Microsoft, claiming there was suspicious stuff happening on my PC. They called me by my first name and even gave me a supposed 16-digit ID, but later I found out that code was totally wrong. When I asked about Reading, they got defensive and it felt like they were looking at a map or something. It turned ugly pretty quick, and I was sure it was just a phishing scam trying its luck.

My landline went off just as I was waiting for a WhatsApp call, so I picked up thinking it might be important. Normally, I never call out on that number. When I said hello, a man replied in a calm voice, but nothing else was said. Right then, my WhatsApp call popped up, so I ended the landline call. Figured if it was someone real, they’d try again. Cheers for the heads up - I won’t be picking up that number again!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Eric from BT. I told him I’m actually with Virgin, not BT, but he kept insisting otherwise and even rattled off my name and address to convince me. I called him out, saying there’s no way his name’s Eric, probably something like Sanjeev since he sounded Indian. He wasn’t having any of it though. When I said I’d report him using his number, he scoffed, like, “You think you have it?” The bloke just kept going on and finally said he wasn’t trying to scam me but there’s plenty more fish in the sea. My landline rings constantly, sometimes even a couple times daily, and it’s beyond annoying. Why isn’t there a way to stop it? These callers are honestly the worst, don’t they understand some folks are struggling and these calls just make everything worse? I got a call on my Virgin landline from 01138198129 about my broadband supposedly being hacked. They even knew my first name and kept asking if I’d used my emails today. I told them I’d handle it on my own, but they kept pressing me about how I’d do that. Realising it was dodgy, I told them it was a scam and hung up. Later I looked it up here and yeah, looks like a proper risky scam. Would watch out for this one.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Microsoft and my computer was being hacked. I talked to them for a bit and they gave me some sort of ID number, supposedly for my PC. Once they asked to access my computer remotely, I just hung up straight away.

I answered the phone since it was a Leeds number - I’m based in the Greater Leeds area. The chap on the line was a non-British Asian, and when I inquired about his location in Leeds, he seemed quite flummoxed and rushed me off the line. He threw in a mention of BT Openreach, but I couldn’t help but question whether BT had any real connection to this call. At that point, he became rather irate, stating, “some people just don’t get it,” as if that explained everything. Honestly, this sort of nonsense never used to occur back in the days before privatisation. Now, it feels like there’s a pressing need for income from any avenue, leading to the trading of seemingly legitimate UK numbers.

Some bloke rang me saying he was with Microsoft and needed to chat about my computer. I told him I haven’t owned a PC for nearly a decade. Then he got all confused, asking how a machine was linked to my place, but I told him I moved out ages ago. He reckoned I must have a laptop instead, but I said I sold that off five years back. Finally, he said he’d have to remove my account since scammers were apparently using it for dodgy stuff. Proper scammer alert!

Some bloke rang up claiming he was from Microsoft. I asked him why on Earth would Microsoft bother ringing little old me when they have millions of customers. I told him he sounded like a tosser trying to con me out of my cash. Then he started swearing like mad, saying he didn’t want my bloody money or whatever. After a load of swearing from him, he just slammed the phone down.

I had an interesting encounter with a chap claiming to be from Virgin. When I requested to chat with his supervisor to verify his identity, he started getting rather confrontational and outright refused. He insisted that our conversation was being recorded and that I didn’t need a second opinion. I invoked my rights under the Subject Access Request, to which he seemed completely baffled and accused me of inventing it! I then mentioned wanting a copy of the recording, but he bluntly told me I had no entitlement to that and was not prepared to provide it. When I inquired about their complaints process, he astonishingly said I had no right to lodge a complaint. I reiterated my wish to speak to his manager, but he stubbornly declined, mumbling something unintelligible before abruptly hanging up on me. Quite the experience, I must say!

Definitely a dodgy caller! The chap claimed to be from Virgin Media, insisting I was experiencing issues with my internet. The thing is, I'm not even a Virgin customer! Some bloke rang me claiming to be David from Microsoft, saying something about my PC. For starters, how would they even know I’ve got a computer unless I told them? I never have. Also, Microsoft don't just ring you out of the blue, only if you’ve asked for support. So yeah, these lot are just scammers trying their luck. Best just ignore and hang up!

I was approached by a chap of Asian descent who claimed that my emails would be shut down if I didn’t adhere to his directives. He was quite insistent, mind you. When I inquired about his affiliation, he stated he was with Apple. So, I decided to give the number a ring from my mobile, and an Asian voice on the other end informed me it was the careline, suggesting I leave a message. I chose not to.

This bloke called Eric kept on pestering me about what gadgets I use to get online. No matter how many times I said no, he begged me to switch them on. When I didn’t, he started threatening to block my devices so I wouldn’t be able to get online at all. I ended up telling him his company sounded like a scam, and then he just hung up on me.

01138198129 - I got a call from a man with an Asian accent who said his name was David and claimed he was calling from Microsoft. He wanted me to be at my computer right away. I told him I’d get there soon but the computer was upstairs and my chairlift was currently out of order. He asked what was wrong with the chairlift, so I said it had no power. When he wanted to know the best time to call back, I said I hadn’t a clue when the electricity would be back. I reckon I can tell tall tales as well as he can. Ha!

Received a call from someone claiming to be from Talktalk, warning me that my internet security wasn't up to scratch. I was taken in at first and ended up following instructions to head over to the app store and look for 'team support'. However, I soon started feeling uneasy about the whole situation and decided to cut the conversation short. I'll be reaching out to Talktalk through different means to confirm the validity of this claim. The caller even mentioned a licence number, which made it all sound quite believable. They've attempted to ring me back several times, fully aware of my age.
