This was definitely a scam.

I had this annoying popup on my laptop that looked like it was from Microsoft, with a recorded message telling me my computer was locked and to ring a certain number. I just shut down the laptop straight away, rebooted, and ran a scan - no issues found at all. Be careful out there!

Got a call from someone saying they're Microsoft trying to fix a scam alert on my computer. They said they were based in the US but when I checked, they were actually calling from Leeds. Was definitely a scam trying to get into my PC.
