Absolutely a total scam. I got hit with the same thing others wrote about - a really loud warning noise and strange messages popping up all over my screen. It was pretty scary to see. When I called the number, I soon figured out it was fake because the ‘technician’ demanded £149 just to put apps back on. I ended the call right there and shut down my laptop, which got rid of all the bogus alerts. Next time I’ll just power off straight away and avoid any chat with these scammers.

My PC suddenly froze and started making some loud warning sounds. Then this pop-up popped up, claiming Windows Defender had locked my system and told me to call a number. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.

My partner was browsing the Argos site and suddenly a warning popped up saying his computer was full of malware and that we needed to ring a certain number to fix it. It's totally a scam, so don't bother calling them. The screen does freeze up, but it’s something that can be resolved without their help.

My partner’s been facing the exact same issue. She tried reaching out to Argos through their website, but ended up getting the same message popping up on her laptop. Does anyone know a way to sort this out?
