I've been getting these pesky pop-up messages on my computer that appear to be from Windows Defender, but I've got my suspicions. I'm really at a loss when it comes to figuring out how to get rid of them. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I suspect this to be a bit of a tech con. It all starts when a pop-up appears on your computer, urging you to ring this number. The message features Microsoft logos and the person on the other end is rather persuasive, making it all feel very legitimate.
