Got a text supposedly from Santander with a one-off code, but I never asked for it. Plus, the number they wanted me to call definitely isn’t Santander’s.

I got a text from Santander containing an authorisation code for an £800 purchase of a Canon camera, along with a note saying to call if I didn't make that transaction. However, like many others, I don’t even have an account with Santander. I'm a bit puzzled about who to notify regarding this, but I really appreciate the other comments warning against making that call.

£785 for a camera? Seriously, who on earth is shelling out that much for one these days? Absolutely ridiculous, isn’t it? 😂

What’s even more baffling is that I don’t even hold an account with Santander!

I've just received a message that purports to be from Barclays, asking me to approve a transaction of £785 related to Canin Cameras. If this isn't genuine, they urge me to get in touch immediately!

I received a text stating that my one-time passcode is 759126 for a purchase of £728.55 to EXODUS. If this transaction wasn't initiated by me, I should urgently contact them at 01135184687. I've reached out to Barclays, and they've confirmed it's a scam - absolutely do NOT call back! This number is linked to some shady characters.

Purporting to be from Barclays, but let me tell you, they’re nothing but chancers and rather poor ones at that! They can’t even manage to pick up the phone. Honestly, it’s laughable! (Here's the full tale... Barclays: Your One-Time passcode is 783657 for a transaction of £925.00 at ARGOS. If this wasn’t you, please ring us immediately on 0113518468).

I received a message claiming to be from NatWest, urging me to ring in with a one-time passcode for a supposed purchase of £925 at Argos. The funny thing is, I haven’t made any such order, nor do I even hold an account with NatWest!

I received a message purportedly from NatWest, claiming there was a One-Time passcode needed for a purchase of £925.00 at ARGOS. It instructed that I should call if this transaction wasn’t made by me. Given that I have no relationship with NatWest whatsoever, I'm convinced this is a scam.

Just received yet another dodgy text-it's blindingly obvious it’s a scam! Honestly, why can’t these people find honest work instead of exploiting vulnerable older folks? It’s just appalling!

I received a dodgy message that seems to be from Santander, requesting me to authorise a payment. The thing is, I don't even have an account with them, so it's quite suspicious that they've got my number along with details about a purchase I've made! Honestly, people should just find a proper job instead of resorting to this nonsense.

As I’ve seen in prior notifications, I received yet another spam text masquerading as a message from HSBC. It included an OTP connected to a supposed £655 transaction with NEXO. It urged me to call a number if this purchase wasn’t one I’d made. No way had I made any such purchase, so I promptly binned the message.

I don’t have an account with Barclays, so it’s obviously a scam attempt.

I just received a dodgy text that claims to be from Barclays, concerning a one-time password for a £950 transaction to Luno. The bizarre thing is, it came through on my work phone, and I don't have any bank accounts or Barclays credit cards linked to that number. Strange, isn't it?

Echoing what someone else mentioned earlier: this call purported to be from HSBC, a bank I'm not affiliated with, discussing a payment to "NEXO" for the rather hefty sum of £655. It reeks of a scam. It's high time we had more robust law enforcement tackling these fraudulent activities...

Seems like a right dodgy message. They’re requesting a call to verify a transaction for Santander, but we don’t even bank with them, so it’s clearly a scam. I’ve got a hunch that ringing the number could lead to someone fishing for your banking info. Stay vigilant!

Looks like a dodgy operation masquerading as Santander - they’re mentioning a one-time password for a transaction with Luno. It's clearly not a legitimate number from Santander. If you receive any messages from them, make sure to report it!

I’ve received a text asking me to send over a one-time password for a payment of £655 to LONO (in bitcoins). It also urged me to ring a particular number if I didn’t approve the transaction. Interestingly, I’ve now got two similar messages and I reckon they’re just spam, so do take care!
