They claimed to be from Ofgem, supposedly giving out free and unbiased advice - no sales pitch, just honest help. They said they were from the Meter Reading Office and wanted to inform me about tariffs. When I told them we were happy with our current provider and would handle things ourselves, they abruptly ended the call. Definitely looks like a tactic to trick people into switching energy suppliers.

Got a call from a woman with a northern accent who knew my name straight away. When I asked what she was after, she got all defensive and said I was being rude, adding "there's loads of that up here!" then she just hung up. I’m on the TPS and it was the third call today. I might’ve been a tad blunt when I picked up, but that doesn’t justify her attitude. Surely something should be done about these relentless nuisance calls. This one really crossed the line with being so personal.

When I pick up, there’s nothing but silence on the other end. **Whatever you do, don’t ring them back!** They’re just out to line their pockets with your money, charging you a pretty penny-possibly 50 pence or even a quid per minute! It’s a right con! They’re nothing but a bunch of scam artists! Ensure you report these calls over at ico.org.uk/concerns/marketing. Look for the section on "silent or abandoned calls" and make your voice heard. We need to keep reporting these dodgy callers so that the ICO has sufficient proof to take action against them. Just got a call from some young bloke who claimed I’d been employed in a factory before. I asked how he’d got my number since it’s unlisted and on the TPS. He had no clue and I told him what he was doing was against the law. He just chuckled, found it amusing. This number rings me around four times daily while I’m at work. Because of our child safety rules, I can’t just pull my phone out of my bag whenever it rings. I need to get permission first to take my bag over to the staff room to answer. I look after quite a few unwell and vulnerable folks, so my manager lets me do this, but it’s a real pain. Got a call from a woman who asked for me by name and then just ended the call. Still waiting to see if she rings back.

They called me like 4 times today. I picked up cause I was waiting to hear about my mum in hospital but they just dropped the call. I called back and got told to ring some 0115 number. Then they called again, this bloke on the phone was quite rude and hung up on me again. So I just blocked the number now.

02/12/2014 a person said they were from the national lottery and told me I needed to get to the manchester hilton by 16:30 that day because I supposedly won £2,000,000 on the lottery.

She knew my name right away and kicked off with all the usual chit chat - how’s your day going, the typical stuff. When I asked who they were, she said someone had passed on that I’m involved in heavy industry. But the moment I asked what it was about, she just hung up! Another number straight onto the block list!

Received two calls this afternoon, spaced half an hour apart. Neither time did I pick up.

This number is associated with the National Advice Clinic. Yet again, we received a rather curious call where they asked for us by name. When I inquired who was trying to get hold of us, they abruptly hung up! Quite baffling, really!
