A firm named Dollar Panels, no typo there, rang me and immediately hung up. This was the 8th time I’ve had calls from similar numbers, all flagged as spam by Truecaller. I finally got through to someone from 0113 419 9950, who said they’re from Dollar Panels. The woman assumed I was a homeowner and was rattling on about a free, no-obligation quote. When I told her I’m not a homeowner, she got quite rude, saying I was wasting her time. Lady, you’re the one who phoned me! This has all the hallmarks of a scam and they seriously need to be put to a stop.

I confronted the caller and told them they didn’t have my consent to call me. They claimed they did because my info came from August 18, when apparently I consented to being contacted. Seems I must’ve missed some kind of tick box to opt out somewhere on a form. The data was sourced from a company called TDP, number 08445611133. I could ask them to take my info off their lists, but it’s a premium number, so... not sure if it’s worth the hassle.

I got a call on my cell, no message left which made me think it was a scam for sure. I even contacted my MP to try and do something about it. Ofcom replied saying these scammers fake the number on display, making it nearly impossible to track them down. I reckon this kinda thing got worse after firms started using call centres abroad. I was informed that this firm was offering Free Green Energy, and they were conducting surveys in my neighbourhood. When I inquired about how they acquired my phone number-given that I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service-they simply provided me with a number to ring back. Not a chance! I’ll just go ahead and block their number instead!
