I got a call from this number on 09/08/17 at 09:39. The person was asking for Mr Johnson. I told them they had the wrong number and they just said okay and ended the call.

Similar to what others have noted, I just had a rather odd interaction with a company reaching out to me (from Staincross, Barnsley). They asserted that they had dispatched letters to folks in my vicinity about conducting a damp test, which apparently involves applying water to my exterior walls. When I inquired whether they meant the walls of my house or those in the garden, the reply was simply "outside walls" without any clarity. It felt very much like a ruse, so I decided to cut the call short. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up!

Today (26/07/2017), my wife answered a call from this number and it was pretty much the same sales spiel as others have said here. They claimed they’d sent a letter saying they’d be ringing and that they were inspecting every property nearby. Luckily, my wife was sceptical and told them straight out no one would be allowed on our land under any circumstances. I’m curious if anyone actually shows up. We’re on the TPS list, so we shouldn’t be getting these calls at all.

It was a man, sounded quite like the others mentioned on here, calling me by name and asking about a letter sent out in the CV23 area, about a HomeServe and free energy survey. I told him I hadn’t had any letter and that nothing comes for free these days, then he just hung up. Classic nuisance call, just trying to catch someone gullible or not very savvy. They really need to be stopped - it’s frustrating how they just pop up again under a different number to dodge the law.

Got a call from this number a bit ago, a nice lady asked for me by name. She then asked if I’d seen a letter they’d sent last week, which I never got. She said she was from Virgo and that they were ringing up homeowners. I cut her off and told her I’m not the homeowner, she said sorry and then ended the call.

I received a call from the number listed above, where the individual claimed that there would be a water service interruption at 7 in the morning. I inquired whether they were referring to the Yorkshire Water Authority, to which he just echoed my question to a colleague, who then burst out laughing. I couldn't help but remark that it felt like I was conversing with a circus act! I understand that working in a call centre isn't easy, but it's high time that Ofcom took a good long look at this company and considered shutting it down for good.

Got a call earlier from a woman asking if she was talking to {quoting my name}. She said she was ringing from Vergo and mentioned something about a letter supposedly sent to me last week, asking if I’d seen it. I told her I hadn't got any letter and that I wanted to hang up straight away, which I did. I then blocked the number after that.

I had a rather peculiar call from a gentleman of Asian descent who kept mentioning my name as if we were old mates. He claimed to be affiliated with something called Virgo and wanted to know if I’d had the chance to peruse it. His constant use of my name in those opening moments felt overly familiar, almost like an attempt to establish rapport. After indulging him for some time, I found myself utterly uninterested and decided to end the conversation by hanging up. Clearly, it was a scam - honestly, these individuals really ought to step up their game if they want to scrape by on their meagre salaries. It's important for our elderly relatives to recognise that it’s perfectly fine to hang up on these chancers. Let’s make sure to inform and empower them to stand firm against such lowlifes!

Is this Virgo Home Improvements located on Caledonia Street, Bradford, BD4 7AJ? Sounds likely, judging by a call I had today. Back in 2016, they were in the Telegraph and Argus for getting fined £33,000 over nuisance calls. The only director, Mark John Anderson, seems to be involved with about 11 other companies, mostly dealing with windows or home improvement stuff. BEWARE. Please spread the word on tw#tter, fa#cebook and other sites.

I got a call from a lass speakin’ with a Leeds accent, said she was from a home improvement company or summat. I'm deaf, so I didn't catch the name, but I told her I don’t do business over the phone, cheers, and hung up while she was still talkin’. I’m on the TPS, but it doesn’t seem to stop these pesky calls from keepin’ on. Dunno where they got my number, cos I’m ex-directory and not listed anywhere. Anyone got any tips on how to block these without spending loads or making it a hassle?

I recently received a telephone call from this number, inquiring about a letter that I’ve never actually received. The caller claimed they were conducting damp proof tests for all the properties in the vicinity. It felt quite obvious that their main aim was to push some sort of damp-proofing spray for sale. When I asked about pricing, they flatly refused to give me any information over the phone. I’ve now taken the step to block this number!

Just got a call from 01134199837. A bloke said my name and where I live. He said his company Virgo sent out a survey to all the houses on my road. Asked if I had got it. I said "No," then he gave his name but I can’t remember now and said he works in energy testing. I got suspicious straight away, so I told him to stop calling me and hang up. Seems like this scam is sneaking past the TPS by pretending to follow up on letters that don’t even exist. I saw from other comments they’re based in Bradford and have been fined before for pestering calls. Properly annoying this.

Got a call from this number today, 10 June 2017, around 2.08pm. The caller said something like Virgo or Velco, not too sure. My husband answered it so I don’t have all the info, but apparently it was about brick making or something like that, and they said they’re a new business opening in Coventry, where we live. Even though we’re on the TPS list, we still get calls like this pretty regularly.

Just got a call from 01134199837 Virgo, some cold caller checking if I’d had any info about energy testing in my area. I haven’t received anything in the post. I told the lady I wasn’t interested as it sounded like a sales pitch. She got quite annoyed and acted like it was some kind of mandatory thing that had to happen. Glad I was alert, but I’m sure older folks might’ve felt pressured into it. Proper annoying!

I had a rather curious encounter with a woman who inquired whether I was Ms X. I promptly clarified that I am, in fact, Mrs X. She claimed to be phoning from Virgo Electrics and mentioned that they had dispatched a letter to me the week prior regarding a moisture assessment, which involved affixing a test tube to the exterior of my home. Quite how that relates to crime prevention is anyone's guess! I pondered if it might be a scam; she assured me it wasn't. When I pressed for details about the letter, she offered no further information. I requested that they resend the letter, but given the comments I've seen from others, I highly doubt it will arrive. I've now blocked the number.

Had an unexpected phone call today. They claimed to have sent me a letter the previous week, but I’ve seen nothing drop through my letterbox. I mentioned I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service and informed them I'd be lodging a complaint, as I'm truly sick of these incessant calls. Ended the call pretty quickly after that. Got a call from a young lady claiming to be from Virgo. She said they’d contacted us, which they never did. Then she claimed they needed access to our place and the neighbours' to carry out some tests. Asked when we’d be around, said neighbours had said yes, but when I asked for specifics about their visit, she couldn’t give any. Sounded fishy, so I just told her not to bother. We’re on the TPS too, but clearly that doesn’t stop these calls.

I received a rather strange call from a lady who inquired if I was Ms X, to which I promptly replied that I’m Mrs X. If I recall correctly, she mentioned that she was ringing from Virgin Electrics, though I might have misheard her. I received a call from this number earlier today, and the person on the other end claimed they had a conversation with someone. However, the name they mentioned didn’t match up at all! I had to set them straight, informing them that the individual in question has been residing in a care home for the past 17 years due to a disability. The caller abruptly disconnected the line! Almost immediately, they tried to ring back, so I picked it up again and asked my boyfriend to tell them to quit pestering us. But, wouldn’t you know it? They hung up before he had a chance to say a word! Quite baffling, I must say.

The caller insisted we’d had a conversation last year about guttering and assured me this wasn’t a sales pitch-which I found hard to believe, as surely all businesses are ultimately trying to sell something.
