Some bloke named David rang me, claiming he was a roofer and selling farceurs or something. He sounded like he was working on a block of flats or whatever. I told him we’d had that sorted years ago, like 5 years back, then he asked when we were putting in front and back doors. That’s when I realised it was dodgy, cause I don’t even have a PVC front door or any back door at all!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent. He asked for my husband by name and claimed we’d recently got a quote for roof repairs, which we definitely did not. Then he said someone would ring tomorrow and "we better be home"!!! I grabbed the phone and said we weren’t interested. The bloke then said “you got wood fascias, love” and that was the last straw - I told him to show some respect and stop calling me love. I repeated we weren’t interested and said if anyone rang tomorrow, the Police would be waiting. Ended the call straight away.

Utterly fed up with this lot of cold callers who just phone then stay silent. It's been really distressing for my elderly folks. If you’ve got free minutes on your plan, give them a taste of their own medicine by ringing back and not saying a word. They seem to get really rattled. I got a call from a woman claiming to be from Virgo Energy. She asked if I’d gotten a letter from their company, but I said I hadn’t. She went on to say they weren’t trying to sell anything, just checking if homes were energy efficient and making sure there wasn’t any moisture trapped in the walls. According to her, someone from their team would come by to inspect my place and that a colleague would ring me to arrange the visit. I never got that follow-up call, so I figured it was probably a con. When I looked up the number online, loads of others said they’d had the exact same kind of call.

Got a call yesterday evening from 01134199836 - Normally, I check the caller ID and don’t pick up if it’s an unknown number, but this time I answered by mistake. I could hear some chatter in the background before they just hung up. Another annoying call! Really wish the government would take action on this... Bet if they were the ones getting these calls, things would change fast. But because it’s just everyday people, they couldn’t care less.

Got a call from some bloke in Pakistan on this number, asking after a Mr something, then he went and mentioned my late nan’s first name - she passed away in 2003. No idea how they dug up that info. A man answered right away and, before I could say anything, he called me by name and asked if it was me. Without even pausing for a reply, he started his spiel. He claimed I had reached out to his mate about fascia and gutters. I quickly told him no and said I wasn’t interested, then ended the call. I've blocked the number now. What puzzles me is how he knew I was calling back from the missed calls and even had my name. I'm also a bit worried about how much that call might have cost me.
