I settled my account with them last May upon retiring but opted to maintain an insurance policy on my washing machine for about a fiver each month. Up until now, I’ve had no issues with Bright House; however, I noticed they tended to ring me if a payment was even a day or two overdue. I’ve since cancelled my insurance with them and specifically instructed the manager at my local branch to remove both my home and mobile numbers from their database. So far, the calls have ceased. Their modus operandi involves snapping up overdue debts from companies that have long since thrown in the towel chasing after them, regardless of whether the details are accurate. Most of these debts are nearing that magical six-year mark, past which they can’t legally be pursued anymore. They're just another collection agency, mind you - a so-called 'third party'. They lack the authority to enlist bailiffs, drag you into court, or even show up at your doorstep demanding cash.
